UMass vs. Penn State Odds and Betting Prediction for the Game

UMass vs. Penn State Odds and Betting Prediction for the Game

The UMass Minutemen go on the road to Happy Valley on Saturday for a nonconference College Football affair. This has the makings of an ugly one.

UMass comes into the game with a 1-6 record. Their lone win came in their season opener on August 26th against New Mexico State. Since then, they have dropped six straight games.

For Penn State, they are the sixth-ranked team in College Football. The Nittany Lions are a perfect 5-0 and one of the leaders in the Big Ten Conference.

Penn State comes into this game at -42.5 over UMass as one of the biggest favorites of the weekend.

UMass Seeking to Snap Six Game Losing Streak

After losses to Auburn and Miami, both by double digits, the Minutemen were competitive in back-to-back games against Eastern Michigan and New Mexico. But the last two games were back to blowouts as Arkansas State and Toledo smashed them. Now, they have the best team on their schedule up next.

UMass is 88th in all of College Football in yards per game, with 416 per game. The rushing attack has struggled, as they rank 152nd. UMass is scoring 26.1 points per game but allowing opponents 39.4 per game. The top threat on the UMass offense is Kay’Ron Lynch-Adams. The running back had 20 carries for 157 yards and a score in the recent loss to Toledo.

The Minutemen have games at Army and Liberty and home games against Merrimack and Connecticut left on their 2023 season.

Penn State Rolling

The Penn State Nittany Lions have rolled through five straight games. The first win of the season was their most competitive game, beating West Virginia. Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, and Northwestern have not posed any issues for the Nittany Lions.

Penn State is scoring 40.6 points per game, which is 11th best in College Football. Defensively, the Nittany Lions are allowing opponents to score just shy of 10 points per game.

Quarterback Drew Allar has been impressive this season, completing 64.6% of his passes on the year. Allar has just shy of 1,100 yards on the season, with nine touchdown passes and no interceptions. KeAndre Lambert Smith has been his top target this season, with 25 receptions, 372 yards, and three touchdowns.

On the ground for the Nittany Lions has been Nicholas Singleton. He has carried the ball 74 times this season for 283 yards and six touchdowns. Kaytron Allen is also one of the top running backs, but he was hurt in the recent win at Northwestern and is questionable for this game. Allen has 307 yards on the ground with two touchdowns.

Penn State has Ohio State and Indiana left in October before Maryland, Michigan, Rutgers, and Michigan State in the season’s final month.

UMass vs. Penn State Odds and Betting Prediction | Nittany Lions Smash Minutemen

This is not going to be a pretty football game. The Nittany Lions are eyeing not only a Big Ten title but a chance at the College Football Playoff. A rare midseason nonconference affair will enable them to work on some things, but it also is a game before a trip to Ohio State next week.

Look for the Nittany Lions to step on the gas for three quarters and then rest their starters for the Buckeyes. Those three quarters will be enough. Penn State gets to 50, and not sure that UMass scores. Bet the Penn State Nittany Lions at -42.5 over UMass on Saturday.
