Since having an 11-win season in 2006, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons have been on a bit of a skid. When Dave Clawson took over as head coach in 2014, he saw his tenure get off to a slow start with back-to-back 3-win seasons. He steadied the ship somewhat after that, averaging 7.5 wins per season for the next 4 years before sliding to 4-5 in a very troubled 2020 season. With that one coming in the middle of the pandemic, it was an easy season to write off. They bounced back in a big way last year, taking advantage of a down season for Clemson to win the Atlantic Division and taking a trip to the ACC Championship Game, which they lost to Pittsburgh. They closed out the season with a win in the Gator Bowl, ending the season with an impressive 11-3 record. Can they replicate that, or will they take a slip backward this year? MyBookie Sportsbook have the Wake Forest Demon Deacons season win total set at 8 ½. Let’s see what lies ahead for them so you can bet against their NCAA Football Regular Season Wins Odds.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons 2022 Season Betting Prediction: Win/Loss Record
Wake Forest Regular Season
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons opened last season with 8 straight wins, and they will have an opportunity to get off to a good start again. They open up the season against VMI before facing Vanderbilt and Liberty. These are all games that you would like them to win, but September closes with a home game against Clemson, who will almost certainly be a whole lot better this year.
There is a tough stretch of games to come in October, starting with a road trip to face Florida State. They will then have Army and Boston College, both very tricky games, at home before closing out the month with a trip to Louisville.
At this stage of the season, I think that Wake Forest have an opportunity to have 6 wins under their belt, putting them in position to go over the win total.
They will start out the month of November with a road trip to face NC State. They will then have home games against UNC and Syracuse, which is the game that I think will get them to the 8-win mark. They will close out the regular season on the road to face Duke. My feeling is that if they can win that one, which they almost certainly should, we will see the Demon Deacons go OVER the win total.
Regular Season and Beyond
If we are to assume that this team is able to deliver 9 wins on the season, the question is whether that will be enough to get them to a repeat win in the division. I think that is a bit of a stretch, as I fully expect Clemson to return to business as usual this season. The Demon Deacons offense is certainly good enough to lead them to more than 9 wins, but I still think they fall short of a trip to the ACC Conference Championship. They should, though, be good enough to land another decent bowl game. All said, I am taking the OVER 8 ½ wins for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
