Week 11 College Football Expert Picks: Texas Tech At Oklahoma State

Written by on November 9, 2016

A few short weeks ago, all the smart money was going in the direction of the Oklahoma Sooners to win the Big 12 Conference. Things have tightened up considerably, though, and now the Oklahoma State Cowboys are right back in the hunt after reeling off 5-straight wins, including a monster win over the West Virginia Mountaineers. Both of those teams are now sitting at 7-2, although the Sooners have a better conference record. The Cowboys could steal the advantage away when they hook up with the Sooners in a few weeks, but they have some business to take care of before that happens. It all begins this weekend when Oklahoma State welcomes in the Texas Tech Red Raiders for a game that you believe they should have no problem winning. We have seen a lot of weird and wonderful things happen in this 2016 college football season, so no-one is counting on the Cowboys winning this one despite coming in as a 12.5-point favorite.

Here’s A Closer Look At The Week 11 College Football Expert Picks: Red Raiders At Cowboys

Why bet on the Texas Tech Red Raiders

It’s easy to look at a team that has lost 4 of their last 5 games and immediately count them out here, but look at the scores in those games and you will see a Texas Tech Red Raiders team that has been competitive for the most part. Let’s also not forget that they came up with a 27-24 win on the road at TCU in a game that they entered as a 10-point underdog. This is a team that can put points up on the board, but which has had a lot of difficulty keeping the opposition at bay. That could be problematic for them when going against a Cowboys offense that looks to be firing on all cylinders right now.

Why bet on the Oklahoma State Cowboys

The Cowboys are sure to be a confident bunch given how good they have been over the past few weeks, but they are also going to be looking at what they have done to Texas Tech over the past two seasons. The last meeting in Stillwater saw the Cowboys win 45-35, and they followed that up with a 70-53 win over Texas Tech on the road last season. The good news for the Cowboys heading into this one is that their defense has been good against the aerial attack, which is what the Red Raiders are going to be throwing at them. They are susceptible on the ground, but Tech are not particularly threatening there.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I think the one thing that we can all agree on is that this thing is almost certainly destined to go over the total, which is likely to be somewhere in the 70’s, based on the last two meetings. I also think that the Cowboys win and cover, and make things even more interesting in the Big 12.
