Week 11 College Football Winning Predictions: Georgia Tech At Virginia Tech

Written by on November 10, 2016

Almost all the attention in the ACC right now is going to the Clemson Tigers and the Louisville Cardinals. It’s no real surprise given that Clemson are still unbeaten, and that Louisville have a QB who is beginning to look like a shoe-in for the Heisman. Those two are duking it out in the Atlantic Division, but there is also a good race going on in the Coastal. It’s coming down to two teams there as well, with Virginia Tech and North Carolina both sitting at 7-2. This weekend will see the Hokies welcome in a Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets team that has disappointed a little with a 5-4 record. This is a match-up that always seems to end up being close, which is why it’s a bit of a surprise to see the Hokies installed as a 14-point favorite on Saturday. They look like a good pick to win this game, but are they going to be able to overcome a college football spread of that size?

Here’s A Closer Look At The Week 11 College Football Winning Predictions: Yellow Jackets At Hokies

When: Saturday, November 12 at 3:30 PM EST Where: Lane Stadium Blacksburg TV: ESPNU NCAAF Odds: TBA

Why bet on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

The conference race may be over for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, but they need one more win from their final 3 games to become bowl eligible. If that doesn’t inspire them to deliver a good performance here, I’m not sure what will. Georgia Tech are a frustrating team to watch at times, as that triple option offense is very hit or miss. They looked great a couple of weeks ago in a win over Duke, but were then unable to get anything going against the Tar Heels last week after going down 10-0 early. While the Hokies may be 4-2 SU in the last 6 meetings with Tech, it worth noting that the Yellow Jackets are 5-1 ATS in those games, and that they won the last team these two hooked up in Atlanta.

Why bet on the Virginia Tech Hokies

The loss to Syracuse a few weeks ago was a tough one for this team to swallow, but they have bounced back nicely, and are coming into this one on a 3-game winning streak. In those last 3 wins, the Hokies have not turned the ball over once, and that bodes well against a Yellow Jackets team that is not particularly aggressive on defense. The Hokies are just 4-5 ATS this season, and have not done particularly well in that category over the past 3 season when they are heavily favored. In games where they have been a 10.5 to 21-point favorite over the last 3 seasons, Virginia Tech is just 1-4 ATS.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The last to meetings between these teams have been decided by a combined 5 points. That would suggest that while the Hokies should win this one, Georgia Tech might just be able to do enough to cover the spread.
