Week 12 College Football: Washington State At Colorado

Written by on November 16, 2016

There are a few different reasons to get excited about specific match-ups in college football. It’s always great to see ranked teams go head to head, especially when it’s a conference game that will have a real impact on the overall standings. One game that checks all those boxes this coming weekend sees the Washington State Cougars go on the road to face the Colorado Buffaloes, with both teams sitting at 8-2 on the season. The Cougars currently hold top spot in the PAC-12 North division, while the Buffaloes are currently the team to beat in the South. The team that wins this one will establish a firm grip on their division, while the loser might just see themselves overtaken by one of the teams in the chasing pack. This has all the makings of a game that is too close to call, as these are a pair of teams that seem to be evenly matched. The bookies are giving the edge to the Buffaloes with the home field advantage, and they are favored 4 4.5-points this Saturday. Find the latest betting odds here.

Why bet on the Washington State Cougars

The 2016 college football season could not have started any more poorly for the Cougars, as they came out and lost their opening two games. That could easily have led to a tailspin of epic proportions, but Mike Leach’s men have turned things around in a big way, reeling off 8 straight wins to charge to the top of their division. It has been a group effort to be sure, but a lot of credit must go to WR Gabe Marks, who has had a season that has seen him break school and conference receiving records. The Washington State Cougars have enjoyed the underdog tag this season, going 3-0 ATS in the games where they were handed that tag.

Why bet on the Colorado Buffaloes

The Buffaloes are coming into this game on a 4-game winning streak, but they will be the first to admit that they have not been at their best during that run. The offense struggled mightily against Stanford and UCLA in recent weeks, but seemed to find a groove again last week in a 49-24 win over Arizona. The Colorado defense can be disruptive, and they can turn the game in their favor if they win the turnover battle, which they have been good at doing so far this season. The Buffaloes have been a fantastic bet ATS this year, going 9-1 so far. That includes a 5-1 ATS record versus conference foes, with their lobe slip up coming against UCLA a couple of weeks ago.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

This is a game that looks destined to go right down to the wire this weekend. As good as Colorado have been ATS this season, I think the 4.5 points is too high. Not only that, I believe that the Cougars momentum continues to build with a win on the road.
