At this stage of the season, as we head into the final weekend, you would have to say that the Georgia Bulldogs are the only team that would appear to be a playoff lock. You would expect them to win comfortably this weekend versus Georgia Tech to complete an unbeaten regular season, but even if they lose to Alabama next week in the SEC Championship Game, you would still expect them to be in the top 4 given what they have done this season. For the teams sitting below them and still in the playoff hunt, the final week of the regular season is the last chance to impress the Playoff Committee ahead of the Conference Championship Games next weekend. There are some massive games on tap in Week 13. Let’s see if we can pick out some winners with our SU picks for the week so you can bet against the College Football Odds.
College Football SU Picks for Week 13 to Bet On
Rutgers Scarlet Knights over Maryland Terrapins
A game between teams with a losing record is not necessarily one that you would tag as essential viewing, but the winner of this game will become bowl eligible. Both teams are sitting at 5-6 heading into the final game of the regular season, which means that the bowl game carrot is dangling for both of them to try and snatch. The problem that Maryland has is that they need to try and break out of a losing skid that has seen them lose 3 in a row and 5 of their last 6. That is never an easy feat. Rutgers have nit been much better of late, but they have at least split their last 4 games. It’s tough to talk about home field advantage when Rutgers is just 2-10 SU in their last 12 at home, and while they are the underdogs here, I am taking the upset.
Ohio State Buckeyes over Michigan Wolverines
You could certainly make an argument that this is the biggest game on the weekend schedule, as the winner of this one will punch their ticket into the Big Ten Conference Championship Game, keeping their playoff hopes alive in the process. Ohio State comes into this game on fire having won each of their last 9 games, most of which have come in blowout fashion. That loss to Oregon and the doubts about their ability this season now seem like a distant memory. Michigan has the same 10-1 record, but their loss came in a conference game. Even with that loss they can get the tiebreaker with a win over the Buckeyes. Ohio State, though, has won 9 of the last 10 meetings with the Wolverines and just look unbeatable at the moment.
Texas A&M Aggies over LSU Tigers
The SEC divisions are all decided now, with Georgia and Alabama getting ready to square off in the Conference Championship Game in Atlanta next week. Despite the big game being out of reach, Texas A&M still have a shot at having a 10-win season if they can win this one and get the victory in an upcoming bowl game. While 10 wins may seem like a bit of a consolation prize, it would still be the sign of a very decent season. The LSU Tigers will be looking to finish strong and put in a good showing for Ed Orgeron, who will coach his final regular season game this weekend. They are going to be up against it versus an Aggies team that has won 16 of their last 19 games. I have to go with A&M here.
