Week 14 College Football Free Picks: Kansas State At TCU

Written by on November 29, 2016

For most conferences, the regular season is over, with this coming weekend being when the championship games take place. This season will be the last in which the Big 12 does not have a conference championship game, making this weekend the final of the regular season for the teams in that conference. Most teams have little to play for with their fates already decided, but that doesn’t mean that teams don’t want to win the final game of the regular season. The Kansas State Wildcats and the TCU Horned Frogs have already both earned bowl games, but both will want to finish strong in hopes of landing in a good bowl game, and to feel a little better about how their seasons have gone. It has probably been a little more disappointing for TCU, as the general consensus heading into this season was that they would be one of the teams competing for the Big 12 title. They will be coming into this one as a 4.5-point betting odds favorite.

Here’s A Closer Look At The Week 14 College Football Free Picks: Wildcats At Horned Frogs

Why bet on the Kansas State Wildcats

The Kansas State Wildcats are a respectable 7-4 on the season, with much of the credit for that record landing squarely on the defense. This is a veteran unit that has had the benefit of playing together for a few years now, and which will be looking for a solid finish before many of them end their college careers. Kansas State is on a nice roll right now, winning 4 of their last 5 and finally getting some help from an offense that looks as though it is beginning to click. They look as though they might be able to hang with a TCU offense that is less explosive than previous years, and they will be looking to improve upon their 3-2 ATS road record this season.

Why bet on the TCU Horned Frogs

It has been a bit of a struggle at times for TCU this season, as their offense has just not lived up to seasons past. There was an expectation that they might dip a little, as this is a team that was looking to shore up defensively in recruiting. The results have not been as good as anyone had hoped for, and this team has been surprisingly poor at home. They are just 2-4 SU at home this season, and they have also seriously underwhelmed as a favorite, going 1-6 ATS overall when tagged with that label. The Horned Frogs will want to give their fans something to cheer about, though, and will be looking to repeat their performance at home the last time they faced the Wildcats there, when they won 41-20.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

In a game that appears to be as evenly matched as this one is, it’s often the best bet to go with the home team. TCU’s home record makes that tough to do, though, and I think Kansas State may just spring the mild upset here.
