Betting College Football Week 3 Games

College Football Week 3 odds are out.

Arizona travels to Manhattan, Kansas on Friday a -7.5 underdog, Alabama is a close to -10 road favorite versus Wisconsin, and Oregon is a -19.5 chalk against rival Oregon State in the Civil War.

Also, Washington is a -7.5 home favorite versus Washington State in the Apple Cup.

Check out college football odds, analysis, and free picks for six of this week’s top games.

Writer’s Picks for the Second Week of the NCAAF Season

Arizona at Kansas State -7.5

Friday, September 13th, 2024

Neither squad looked great in their last.

Of the two teams, though, Arizona looked much worse.

However, the Wildcats had a different offensive line starting against Northern Arizona than it did in the 61-point outburst victory versus New Mexico.

Also, even though the Wildcats beat the Lumberjacks by only 12 points, the defense held NAU in check by allowing 10.

Arizona will be much better on offense on Friday.

Kansas Stateallowed Tulane to score 27 in a road win.

Take the points.

NCAAF ATS Week 3 Pick: Arizona +7.5

Alabama -10.5 at Wisconsin

Saturday, September 14th, 2024

Wisconsin has played decent football against subpar opponents Western Michigan and South Dakota.

The Badgers’ defense stepped it up in both games.

But although Wisconsin has looked good and played well Alabama is on a different level.

Kalen DeBoer’s team may have the best offense in college football.

The defense has shown no signs of a backward step even though DeBoer lost a few players from Nick Saban’s 2023 squad.

Bama covers.

NCAAF ATS Week 3 Pick: Alabama -9.5

Oregon -19.5 at Oregon State

Saturday, September 14th, 2024

The Civil War is always a tough game.

It doesn’t matter that Oregon State doesn’t have a conference.

The game is going to be tough.

The matchup happens at Oregon State, which gives the Beavers a chance to cover.

So far this NCAAF season, Oregon State has outplayed Oregon.

The Ducks struggled against Idaho and Boise State.

Oregon got lucky versus Boise.

The Beavs beat SDSU 21-0 on the road in their last.

Way too many points to lay on an Oregon squad that doesn’t look like a Top 25 team much less a Top 10 team.

NCAAF ATS Week 3 Pick: Oregon State +19.5

Texas A&M -4.5 at Florida

Saturday, September 14th, 2024

Florida +4.5 is a bad bet.

The Gators beat up Samford 45-7.

Samford barely has a football team.

Texas A&M hung with Notre Dame.

Sure, the Irish lost to Northern Illinois in College Football Week 2.

But the Huskies are a decent MAC squad.

The Aggies dominate Florida in a 10-point victory.

NCAAF ATS Week 3 Pick: Texas A&M -4.5

Washington State at Washington -7.5

Saturday, September 14th, 2024

Both teams are 2-0.

The difference is that Washington State heads to the Apple Cup after beating Texas Tech 37-16 in their last game.

The Huskies have wins over and Eastern Michigan.

Like Oregon versus Oregon State, Washington versus Washington State is one of the top rivalries in all of college football.

Expect a tight game.

Taking the points on the dog makes sense.

NCAAF ATS Week 3 Pick: Washington State +7.5

West Virginia -5.5 at Pittsburgh

Saturday, September 14th, 2024

It’s difficult to understand why West Virginia is favored in this game.

The Mountaineers must travel to take on the Panthers.

Pittsburgh is tough to beat at home.

West Virginia looked lousy in a loss to Penn State while the Panthers have two solid wins, including beating Cincinnati on the road this season.

Panthers can win this straight up.

So taking the points is the bet.

NCAAF ATS Week 3 Pick: Pittsburgh +5.5

2023 College Football Week 3 ATS Picks | MyBookie Regular Season Betting Preview

2023 NCAA Division I FBS football season | 154th season of college football in the United States
NCAAF Week 3: Thursday, September 14th – Saturday, September 16th, 2023

Virginia Cavaliers at Maryland Terrapins

NCAAF Odds: Virginia +14.5; Maryland -14.5 / Virginia +440; Maryland -650 / O/U 48
Friday, September 15th, 2023 at 12:00 pm | FS1
SECU Stadium, College Park, MD

Virginia made a massive leap forward in their second game. Versus Tennessee in their first, the Cavaliers struggled big time. The game happened in Knoxville in front of over 100,000 orange clad Vols fans.

So it makes sense that UVA would lose 49-13. But versus the James Madison Dukes, Virginia almost pulled off the upset win in a 36-35 loss. The Dukes are a Top 25 team. Maryland is 0-2 ATS. The 14.5 line makes Virgina the play.

College Football Week 3 ATS Pick: Virginia +14.5 | Bet Virginia at Maryland

3 Florida State Seminoles at Boston College Eagles

NCAAF Odds: Florida State -25.5; Boston College +25.5 / Florida State -4000; Boston College +1175 / O/U 48
Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at 12:00 pm | ABC
Alumni Stadium, Chestnut Hill, MA

FSU quarterback Jordan Travis leads one of the most dynamic offenses in college football. But although the Seminoles blasted LSU in their first game, the contest was close until the second half.

Also, Florida State must travel to Boston College on Saturday. Usually, BC comes up big at home. But this season, Boston College just isn’t a good team. The Eagles lost to Northern Illinois and struggled for a victory against Holy Cross. FSU rolls.

College Football Week 3 ATS Pick: Florida State -26 | Bet Florida State at Boston College
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Title

14 LSU Tigers at Mississippi State Bulldogs

NCAAF Odds: LSU -9.5; Mississippi State +9.5 / LSU -380; Mississippi State +285 / O/U 54.5
Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at 12:00 pm | ESPN
Davis Wade Stadium, Starkville, MS

The Bulldogs struggled to beat the Arizona Wildcats in their last. However, U-of-A has a much better team than many realize. The Wildcats will make waves in the Pac-12 this season because the offense is terrific and the defense boasts some talent.

Still, LSU is by far the better team in this matchup. Ah, but Mississippi State has a true leader at quarterback in Will Rodgers. Running back Jo’Quavious Marks is a handful. Marks and Rodgers will ensure Miss State keeps any loss to under the number.

College Football Week 3 ATS Pick: Mississippi State +9.5 | Bet LSU at Mississippi State
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Title

Central Michigan Chippewas at 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

NCAAF Odds: Central Michigan +34; Notre Dame -34 / O/U 53
Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at 2:30 pm | Peacok
Notre Dame Stadium, Notre Dame, IN

In 2 games, Central Michigan has played terrible football. The 31-7 loss to Michigan State was bad. The 45-42 victory over New Hampshire, although entertaining, was worse because CMU should have dominated their opponent.

Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman has thrown 10 TD’s to zero interceptions, for 731 yards, and is completing 75% of his passes. The Irish should have no trouble getting the win and cover.

College Football Week 3 ATS Pick: Notre Dame -34 | Bet Central Michigan at Notre Dame
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Title

South Carolina Gamecocks at 1 Georgia Bulldogs

NCAAF Odds: South Carolina +27.5; Georgia -27.5 / South Carolina +2000; Georgia -12500 / O/U 54.5
Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at 3:30 pm | ABC
Sanford Stadium, Athens, GA

UGA has yet to play a decent team. The Bulldogs have looked great beating up lesser opponents, but South Carolina is already battle-tested in a first game loss to North Carolina and in a dominating victory over Furman. SC shouldn’t come close to winning this, but the Gamecocks have 27.5 points to work with. South Carolina covers.

College Football Week 3 ATS Pick: South Carolina +27.5 | Bet South Carolina at Georgia
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Title

10 Alabama Crimson Tide at South Florida Bulls

NCAAF Odds: Alabama -32; South Florida +32 / O/U 61.5
Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at 3:30 pm | ABC
Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL

Bama may not bench quarterback Jalen Milroe, but there’s a good chance that after his performance against Texas, Nick Saban plays both Milroe and Tyler Buchner.

The old ball coach might even play Ty Simpson, the highly-touted freshman. South Florida isn’t good enough to stop Milroe, Buchner, or Simpson from leading touchdown scoring drives. The Tide bounce back in a big way.

College Football Week 3 ATS Pick: Alabama | Bet Alabama at South Florida
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Title

Northwestern Wildcats at 21 Duke Blue Devils

NCAAF Odds: Northwestern +18.5; Duke -18.5 / Northwestern +670; Duke -1204 / O/U 48.5
Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at 3:30 pm | ACCN
Wallace Wade Stadium, Durham, NC

For the Northwestern Wildcats, this is a bad matchup. The Big Ten team in this game doesn’t have a high-scoring offense and even if it did, Duke is allowing 7 points per contest.

On offense, Riley Leonard is as efficient of a QB as there is in the ACC. Duke covers with a 20 to 24 points victory.

College Football Week 3 ATS Pick: Duke -18.5 | Bet Northwestern at Duke
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Title

11 Tennessee Volunteers at Florida Gators

NCAAF Odds: Tennessee -6.5; Florida +6.5 / Tennessee -243; Florida +193 / O/U 58.5
Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at 7:00 pm | ESPN
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Gainesville, FL

Last year’s Tennessee versus Florida game was great. The Vols won 38-33. This year, the game won’t be as competitive because Anthony Richardson piloted last year’s contest.

The Gators played well in their second game of the season. But in their first, Utah dominated Florida. Tennessee has the look of one of the better SEC teams. The Vols win and cover.

College Football Week 3 ATS Pick: Tennessee -6.5 | Bet Tennessee at Florida

Previous Betting News

Believe it or not, we already will be 25 percent done with college football’s regular season after Week 3 of action. And it’s a strong schedule after Week 2 was rather boring. Here are the three games scheduled for Friday and my picks against the spread this week on college football lines.

Here Are the Top College Football Week 3 ATS Betting Picks

No. 21 Baylor at Rice (+30)

Baylor has looked offensively the same despite losing offensive guru head coach Art Briles this offseason due to that scandal at the school involving sexual assaults by members of the college football team. The Bears beat SMU 40-13 in Week 2. Seth Russell threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score following the 6-6 halftime tie, and the Bears went on to a 13th straight victory over their former Southwest Conference rival. SMU outgained Baylor 184-32 in the first 10 minutes, but got just two field goals from Josh Williams. Baylor improved to 31-3 in home games since 2011, the nation’s best home record in that span. Baylor improved to 10-0 in September games since 2013 — the Bears’ last September loss was on Sept. 29, 2012 at West Virginia (70-63). Baylor is 20-5 against in-state schools over the last 5+ seasons and has won 13 of its last 15 vs. Texas foes. Rice isn’t very good and is 0-2 after losing 31-14 at Army in Week 2. After striking early — Tyler Stehling hit tight end Connor Cella for a 64- yard touchdown on Rice’s third play from scrimmage — the Owls struggled the rest of the game. Subtract that long gain, and Rice managed just 98 yards on 23 plays in the first half and fell behind by two touchdowns. Take Baylor here. It beat Rice 70-17 last year in Waco.

Arkansas State at Utah State (-9)

ASU is 0-2 after a 51-14 loss at Auburn on Saturday. The 706 total yards Auburn gained is the second-highest in school history, behind only the 712 the Tigers racked up against Western Carolina in 2013. Arkansas State’s troubles in the secondary — and the defense as a whole — continue to plague the Red Wolves, who have now been outscored 82-24 in their first two games this season. Utah State is 1-1 with a 45-7 loss at USC on Saturday. The USC defense shut out the Aggies until Kent Myers’ 6-yard TD pass to Wyatt Houston on the last play of the third quarter. Utah State starting cornerback Daniel Gray was taken from the field on a stretcher late in the first quarter. Devante Mays, the Aggies’ top running back, also watched the second half from the sideline, sometimes resting on crutches. Go USU here.

Arizona State at UT-San Antonio (+18)

The top statistical performance of Week 2 was the NCAA-record- tying eight touchdowns scored by ASU’s Kallan Ballage in a 68-55 win over Texas Tech. He only touched the ball 15 times all night. Ballage scored seven touchdowns on direct-snap runs and another on a 39-yard, double-reverse flea flicker. The junior matches the record set by Illinois’ Howard Griffith in 1990. He also tied the FBS record with four touchdowns in the second quarter. UTSA lost 23-14 at Colorado State. CSU rushed for 220 yards and held UTSA to minus-one yard on the ground. The Roadrunners (1-1) threw for 236 yards using two quarterbacks. Dalton Sturm completed 15-of- 23 passes for 176 yards and a pair of TDs, while Jared Johnson added 60 yards on 5-of- 7 passing. Go Arizona State on NCAA football lines here.

Can the new-look Purdue Boilermakers get it done despite being on the road in College Football Week 3? Are the eighth-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys locks to get it done in their College Football Week 3 matchup against Pittsburgh? Last but not least, can the reeling Baylor Bears play competent football when they hit the road to take on the surprising Duke Blue devils? With the third week of the 2017 college football season quickly approaching, it’s time for a trio of expert ATS picks that are sure to please! Hence, take a quick look at the following NCAA Football betting lines and odds here.

College Football Week 3 ATS Picks and Winning Favorites

Purdue at Missouri

When: Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 4:00 PM ET
Where: Faurot Field, Columbia, Missouri
College Football Week 3 Odds: Missouri -7.5

Analysis: Purdue beat the hell out of overmatched Ohio in its 44-21 in Week 2 just as I predicted. The Boilermakers got a terrific performance out of quarterback David Blough who completed 11 of 13 passes for 235 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions while running back Tario Fuller added142 rushing yards and one score on 16 carries.

Missouri got smacked around by South Carolina in its 31-13 Week 2 loss as quarterback Drew Lock completed just 14 of 32 pass attempts for 245 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. The Tigers committed three turnovers and lost the time of possession battle by allowing the Gamecocks to keep possession for almost 37 minutes.

The Boilermakers are a perfect 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 5-0 ATS in their last five games on fieldturf while Missouri has gone 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games in the month of September and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games overall.

For me, it is the hiring of head coach Jeff Brohm that has completely transformed Purdue from a mediocre team to one that can score almost at will. With a convincing 67 percent of public bettors already all over the Boilermakers, I say this Week 3 pick is as easy as pie.

Pick: Purdue +7.5

No. 8 Oklahoma State (2-0) at Pittsburgh (1-1)

When: Friday, September 16, 2017 at 12:00 PM ET
Where: Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA
College Football Week 3 Odds: Pittsburgh +13.5 / Total: OFF

Analysis: Eighth-ranked Oklahoma State laid an emphatic 44-7 smackdown on overmatched South Alabama to cover the spread as 28-point road favorites as Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback Mason Rudolph completed 25 of 38 passes for 335 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Oklahoma State also limited the Jaguars to a dismal 1-for-10 success rate on third down and Rudolph enters Week 3 on fire, having thrown for 638 yards and six touchdowns with no picks through two games.

Pittsburgh got man-handling in its 33-14 Week 2 loss to Penn State just as like my previous predictions. Former USC quarterback Max Browne was mediocre at best in completing just 19 of 32 passes for 138 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions and Pittsburgh’s defense allowed Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley to toss three TD passes in the loss. Oklahoma State has looked really impressive in both of their wins so far this season while Pittsburgh has looked mostly incompetent in barely beating Youngstown State in overtime and getting smacked around by Penn State.

The Cowboys are 4-0 ATS in their last four non-conference games and a near-perfect 5-1 ATS in their last six road games. Conversely, Pittsburgh is just 1-4-1 ATS in the last six games in the month of September and a discouraging 7-19 ATS in their last 26 home games. Keep it simple and back Mason Rudolph and the Oklahoma State Cowboys to win going away!

Pick: Oklahoma State -13.5

Baylor at Duke

When: Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 12:30 PM ET
Where: Wallace Wade Stadium, Durham, North Carolina
College Football Week 3 Odds: Duke -13.5

Analysis: Baylor has looked completely inept in losing to Liberty in their opener 48-45 two weeks ago and following that up with a stunning 17-10 loss against UTSA in Week 2. Arizona graduate transfer quarterback Anu Solomon has been pretty mediocre so far this season and completed just 10-of-26 passes for 121 yards with one touchdown and one interception against UTSA on Saturday.

On the flip side of the coin, Duke Blue Devils is looking damned good after routing NC Central 60-7 in their opener and smacking Northwestern around in their 41-17 Week 2 win on Saturday despite being a 2-point home underdogs.

Duke Blue Devils Past Games Analysis

Blue Devils quarterback Daniel Jones completed 29-of-45 passes for 305 yards with two touchdowns and one interception while rushing for a team-high 108 yards and two additional touchdowns on 16 carries. Jones has been phenomenal this season so far by passing for 518 yards with four touchdowns and one interception while rushing for 127 yards and three scores.

Baylor head coach Matt Rhule is a really good head coach, but he’s got a way to go to build the program back up after former head coach Art Briles basically ruined the program by letting all sorts of nonsense take place under his watch. Baylor is just 2-7 ATS in the last nine games and 1-5 ATS in their last six non-conference games while Duke has gone 5-0 ATS in their last five home games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games following an ATS win and an encouraging 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall.

The Blue Devils are looking good and have a really good dual-threat star in the making in Daniel Jones. Take Duke to win and cover the spread!

Pick: Duke -13.5

2019 College Football Week 3 ATS Betting Picks

Previous Betting News

We are two weeks into the new college football season, with all the top picks to win the National Championship still sitting unbeaten. That, though, is something you would expect, as the tougher challenges for these teams are still to come in the weeks ahead. For now, we are going to take a closer look at Week 3 of the season. There are always a ton of games to play in college football, which is why we are going to try and break things down for you. We will have a variety of different plays for you to look at, starting out with some college football betting picks against the spread.

2019 College Football Week 3 ATS Betting Picks

Ohio State Buckeyes (-15 ½) at Indiana Hoosiers

The move to land Justin Fields, who entered the transfer portal from Georgia, as their starting QB is beginning to look like a genius move. He has been the dual threat that we all expected, helping the Buckeyes rack up 87 points through their opening 2 games of the season.

Indiana are also coming into this weekend with a perfect 2-0 records, but when you consider that they have failed to pick up a win in 10 attempts against Ohio State, their chances of staying perfect seem slim indeed. The Buckeyes are just 3-7 ATS in those 10 games, but I think they improve upon that here.

College Football Week 3 Betting Trends

Buckeyes are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games against Indiana
Buckeyes are 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games played on a Saturday
Hoosiers are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games played in week 3

Air Force Falcons at Colorado Buffaloes (-3 ½)

This is only the second game of the season for both of these teams, with both also covering the spread in their opening games. While that may make this one seem like a bit of a toss-up, there are some things to consider. The Air Force Falcons have been money in Week 3 of the season, covering the spread in 7 of their last 8 attempts in that week of the season.

That said, the Colorado Buffaloes are a perfect 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games against teams form the Mountain West. Colorado have home field advantage and the spread is manageable, which is why I am on Colorado.

College Football Week 3 Betting Trends

Falcons are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games played in week 3
Buffaloes are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games
Buffaloes are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games at home

Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at Louisville Cardinals (9 ½)

It has been a bit of a wobbly start to the season for both of these teams, with Western Kentucky and Louisville coming into this weekend with matching 1-1 records. If there is one difference to be found, it’s that the Cardinals have covered the spread in both of their games this season, including covering as a 19-point dog against Notre Dame in the opening week.

The Hilltoppers are just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 Week 3 games, while Louisville are a stellar 11-4 in their last 15 games played in Week 3 of the season.

College Football Week 3 Betting Trends

Hilltoppers are 3-6 ATS in their last 9 games
Hilltoppers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games played in week 3
Louisville are 3-12 ATS in their last 15 games

Oklahoma Sooners (-23) at UCLA Bruins

It has been a horrendous start to the season for the 0-2 UCLA Bruins, but don’t expect things to get any easier this weekend. While the Bruins are at home, they will be welcoming in an Oklahoma Sooners team that already looks like a National Championship contender.

Jalen Hurts has fit in very nicely under center, helping the Sooners rack up 119 points in their opening two games of the season. The Bruins are having problem scoring when they have the ball, so I don’t see them putting up too much of a fight on Saturday night.

College Football Week 3 Betting Trends

Bruins are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games played in week 3

NCAAF 2021 Season – Week 3 ATS Betting Picks

Previous Betting News

It is still much too early in the college football season to be talking about potential champions, but you do have to say that through the opening 2 games of the season, the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs look a cut above the rest. Teams that we expected to be in the playoff picture have already lost this season, while a couple of dark horses are beginning to emerge from the pack. There is, though, a lot of football still to be played and a ton of big matchups to come. We will almost certainly see some more surprises along the way, and we can also expect some more changes in the National Rankings. Playoff discussions are still a long way off, so let’s instead focus on out ATS picks for Week 3 of the college football season. Let’s jump right into action so you can get ready to bet against the NCAAF odds.

Week 3 ATS Picks for the 2021 Season | NCAA Football Betting

Cincinnati Bearcats (-3 ½) at Indiana Hoosiers

We spoke at the top of this piece about dark horses emerging from the pack this season. Given what they delivered in 2020, we all had an idea that Cincinnati might be good this year, but can they get into a playoff spot before making the move to the Big 12? They are probably going to need some more Power 5 teams to stumble along the way to make the top 4, but they can help themselves with another win. They have a tricky one this weekend on the road at Indiana, but they have been a good bet wherever they go, going 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games. They need to overcome a Hoosiers team that is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games, but I like the Bearcats to get the job done.

Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (-13 ½) at Buffalo Bulls

A lot of football fans tend to focus on the Power 5, ignoring everything else that is going on outside of that bubble. If you are in that group, then you are missing some very entertaining football teams. One of those teams is the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. They are 2-0 this season and ranked #16, so they really should be on your radar. They are an offensively minded team coming off a big 49-22 win over Power 5 Kansas, plus they are now 8-2-2 ATS in their last 13 games, so usually a very good bet. The Chanticleers are also 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games played on a Saturday. It’s a tough one, but I like them to break the 9-0 ATS streak that the Buffalo Bulls currently have going at home.

Virginia Cavaliers (+9) at UNC Tar Heels

In the ACC, we have all become accustomed to seeing Clemson run away with the Atlantic Division each season, but the Coastal tends to be a little more wide open. It’s early going, but Virginia has the edge, winning their first conference game this season. On the flipside, there is a little bit of desperation going on in Chapel Hill, with UNC losing their conference opener. They really need this one if they have hopes of winning the Coastal Division, but let’s focus on the spread here. The Cavaliers are on a nice run that has seen them cover in 7 of their last 8 games, including both games this season. I think they keep this one close enough to cover that 9-point spread.
