Betting College Football Week 5 Games

One of the most anticipated matchups of the 2024 College Football Season happens on Saturday when 2 Georgia takes on 4 Alabama.

The Dawgs and the Tide took NCAAF Week 4 off to prepare for their massive battle.

In addition to UGA versus Bama, Oregon travels to UCLA, Oklahoma State throws down against Kansas State and Notre Dame is a lukewarm home favorite versus Louisville.

Check out against the spread college football odds, analysis, and free picks for six of this week’s top matchups.

Writer’s Picks for the Fifth Week of the NCAAF Season

Virginia Tech at Miami -17.5

Saturday, September 28th, 2024

In the past, VA Tech versus Canes was one of the ACC’s top games.

This season Miami is a legit National Championship contender while Virginia Tech is one of the worst teams in the conference.

Cam Ward should shine big time against a Hokies squad that allowed Vanderbilt to score 34 in their first game, a loss, and 26 to Rutgers in their last game, which ended up another VA Tech loss.

Miami covers.

NCAA Week 5 Pick: Miami

College Football Week 5 Pick: Miami -17.5

Oregon -23.5 at UCLA

Saturday, September 28th, 2024

The Bruins are a horrendous football team.

UCLA might be the worst Power 4 Conference squad in the nation.

After getting lucky versus Hawaii, yes, Hawaii, UCLA floundered at home against Indiana in a 42-17 loss.

The road loss to LSU was ugly, 34-17.

Oregon is back to dominating opponents.

The Ducks blasted rival Oregon State 49-14 in their last.

Ducks roll to an easy win.

NCAA Week 5 Pick: Miami

Oklahoma State at Kansas State -3.5

Saturday, September 28th, 2024

Both teams head into this massive Big 12 showdown after a loss.

Road squad Oklahoma State suffered a close 22-19 defeat against tough Utah.

BYU blew out Kansas State 38-9.

The Wildcats didn’t make the same adjustments they did against Arizona the week before.

Although K-State will play better in this, Oklahoma State is the strongest team they’ve faced this season.

Yes, the Pokes are even better than BYU.

Take the points.

NCAA Week 5 Pick: Oklahoma State

Illinois +17.5 at Penn State

Saturday, September 28th, 2024

The Illinois Fighting Illini are one of the most surprising 4-0 teams in the country, and they have already picked up two Top 25 wins.

Things are going to get much tougher for Illinois moving forward, and it’s going to start with a game at Penn State.

The Nittany Lions are a huge betting favorite in this one, and they look to have one of the best offenses in the country.

Penn State is going to find a way to win this game at home, but you can’t pass up on getting Illinois at +17.5 in this Big Ten showdown.

NCAA Week 5 Pick: Penn State

Minnesota at Michigan -9.0

Saturday, September 28th, 2024

There is another interesting Big Ten matchup to check out this weekend as Minnesota will visit Michigan for an interesting game.

It’s pretty clear that Michigan is the better team in this matchup, but the Wolverines haven’t been blowing teams out this season.

Minnesota is just dealing with so many injuries on the offensive side of the ball, and that is going to make things extremely challenging for them.

Don’t expect a laugher in this game, but Michigan will find a way to win the game and cover the spread.

NCAA Week 5 Pick: Penn State

Louisville at Notre Dame -4.5

Saturday, September 28th, 2024

Undefeated Louisville is no joke.

A Top 25 matchup will be taking place in South Bend on Saturday as Louisville will be visiting the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for a battle.

The Cardinals beat a good team in the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in their last 31-19.

The Cardinals are solid on both sides of the football and their offensive and defensive lines may be better than Notre Dame’s lines.

The Irish have looked good in 3-of-4 but beating undefeated Louisville won’t be easy.

These two teams are both looking for a signature win, and the winner of this game will see a huge jump in the standings.

Louisville hasn’t really been tested up to this point, and you should expect that their defense will struggle mightily in this game.

Notre Dame still has a chance to get to the College Football Playoff this season, and they will take a huge step by covering the spread this weekend.

The dog could win this straight up.

So the 4.5 points are a gift.

NCAA Week 5 Pick: Louisville

Georgia -2.5 at Alabama

Saturday, September 28th, 2024

The best game of the weekend will take place in the SEC as two heavyweights are going to collide for a battle.

Georgia shouldn’t be the chalk in this.

Georgia and Alabama are both title contenders this season, and they are meeting up for a regular season showdown.

The betting lines currently have Georgia as the betting favorite in this one, but that’s a bit disrespectful to Alabama and just how good they can be.

This game should come down to the wire, and taking the points and backing the home team is the way to go.

The Bulldogs have the more veteran squad but Kirby has yet to face Kalen DeBoer’s offense.

DeBoer is the most creative offensive minded head coach in college football.

Jalen Milroe is turning in a sensational season.

The more surprising thing about this year’s Bama squad is that the Tide defense has stepped it up big time.

Alabama wins straight up.

So take the points if you want to make a spread bet.

NCAA Week 5 Pick: Georgia

Arizona at Utah -11.5

Saturday, September 28th, 2024

The Wildcats face their first Big 12 game of the NCAAF season.

Although the Cats played and lost to Kansas State in their last game, the matchup wasn’t a Big 12 contest because the game had been scheduled before Zona joined the Big 12.

Utah and Arizona are former Pac-12 rivals.

Last season, the Wildcats beat the Utes.

This season, Arizona doesn’t have much shot if Cam Rising, Utah’s star senior quarterback, plays.

Rising is athletic like Kansas State’s Avery Johnson, which means Utah will scheme QB runs to get Cam to the edge.

Zona struggled all night against Johnson.

Utah knows the blueprint and as good as Noah Fifita and Tetairoa McMillan are, the Cats won’t keep up.

Utah covers.

NCAA Week 5 Pick: Arizona

NCAAF Week 5: Thursday, September 28th – Saturday, October 1st, 2023

6 Penn State Nittany Lions -27 at Northwestern Wildcats

ATS Odds: Penn State -27
Saturday, September 30th, 2023 at 12:00 pm | BTN
Ryan Field, Evanston, IL

Penn State has dominated their opponents. The Nittany Lions defense isn’t just throttling offenses, but when Penn State has the ball they’ve proven to be unstoppable.

However, on Saturday the Lions face a team that rediscovered their mojo in College Football Week 4. Northwestern hung with a solid squad in Minnesota to lose 37-34. This happens on Northwestern’s field. Penn State wins but the Lions fail to cover.

College Football Week 5 ATS Pick: Northwestern +27 | Bet California at Washington

Texas A&M Aggies at Arkansas Razorbacks

ATS Odds: Texas A&M -6.5
Saturday, September 30th, 2023 at 12:00 pm | SEC
AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX

The Arkansas Razorbacks played great football in their last. The Hogs faced a hot squad in LSU, but Arkansas managed a 34-31 loss.

Texas A&M is the favorite in this because of how they decimated Auburn but the Aggies don’t travel well. A&M lost 48-33 to Miami in their lone road game of the season. The Razorbacks should step it up in front of their fans, which is why taking the points makes sense.

College Football Week 5 ATS Pick: Arkansas +6.5 | Bet Texas A&M at Arkansas

24 Kansas Jayhawks at 3 Texas Longhorns

ATS Odds: Texas -16.5
Saturday, September 30th, 2023 at 3:30 pm | ABC
DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, Austin, TX

No doubt, Texas is one of the best teams in the nation. Kansas, though, is legit.

Jayhawks quarterback Jalon Daniels is completing 73.7% of his passes and has a 5 TD to 1 INT ratio. Daniels has also thrown for 705 yards. The Horns will win. But Texas covering the spread will be an issue.

College Football Week 5 ATS Pick: Kansas +16.5 |

2 Michigan Wolverines at Nebraska Cornhuskers

ATS Odds: Michigan -17
Saturday, September 30th, 2023 at 3:30 pm | FOX
Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, NE

Since making a change at quarterback, Nebraska is undefeated. The Cornhuskers went to Heinrich Haarberg and have beaten Northern Illinois and Louisiana Tech.

Haarberg isn’t flashy, but he doesn’t throw picks. The Cornhuskers will lean on their defense in this, which means Michigan will struggle to cover a massive spread on the road because Nebraska’s D is one of the best in the Big Ten.

College Football Week 5 ATS Pick: Nebraska +17 | Bet Michigan at Nebraska

9 Oregon Ducks at Stanford Cardinal

ATS Odds: Oregon -27
Saturday, September 30th, 2023 at 6:30 pm | PAC12
Stanford Stadium, Stanford, CA

Covering a -27 spread seems like a lot. It really seems like a lot when we consider that Oregon comes off an emotional, blowout victory over Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes.

Stanford, though, is a mess of a football team. The Cardinal have lost 3 straight. 1 of the losses was to Sacramento State at home. Ducks cover.

College Football Week 5 ATS Pick: Oregon -27 | Bet Oregon at Stanford
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Title

7 Washington Huskies at Arizona Wildcats

ATS Odds: Washington -18
Saturday, September 30th, 2023 at 10:30 pm | PAC12
Arizona Stadium, Tucson, AZ

Arizona has a decent offense. However, quarterback Jayden De Laura makes a lot of mistakes. De Laura has thrown 5 interceptions in games against NAU, Mississippi State, UTEP, and Stanford.

The Wildcats were all out to beat Stanford. You know what we think about the Cardinal. In addition, Washington is one of the best teams in the nation. The Huskies blast the Wildcats by at least 24.

College Football Week 5 ATS Pick: Washington -18 | Bet Washington at Arizona

2019 College Football Week 5 ATS Betting Picks

Previous Betting News

As we head into College Football Week 5, all the major players are still alive and well in the top 4. The same cannot be said for the rankings below them, though, with Notre Dame and Michigan both seeing their stock drop after losses in Week 4.

We are now heading into the portion of the season where the conference games begin to come into play, so we may well see those rankings change dramatically in the coming weeks. For now, let’s look ahead to Week 5 and make some ATS NCAAF betting picks from what is a very busy schedule.

2019 College Football Week 5 ATS Betting Picks

Texas Tech Red Raiders at Oklahoma Sooners (-27)

I am always a little wary about playing these games with larger spreads, but this one is small enough to make it worthwhile for me. The Sooners are absolutely tearing it up on the offensive side of the football with Jalen Hurts under center, so there is no reason to believe that their numbers are suddenly going to drop off this week.

Week 5 has been a good one to wager on the Sooners ATS, as they have covered in each of their last 6 games at this stage of the season. In comparison, the Red Raiders are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6.

>

College Football Week 5 Betting Trends

Red Raiders are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games
Red Raiders are 12-4-2 ATS in their last 18 games played in September
Sooners are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games
Sooners are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games played in week 5

Northwestern Wildcats at Wisconsin Badgers (-24)

Here I go again with another larger spread, but after watching Wisconsin last weekend, I get the sense that this team is for real. They absolutely dismantled the Michigan Wolverines in a 35-14 win that was even more lopsided than the score suggests.

With that win and the cover, the Badgers have now covered the spread in 5 of their last 6 games. In that same stretch, the Northwestern Wildcats have managed to cover just once. I think the Badgers win big here and cover.

College Football Week 5 Betting Trends

Wildcats are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games
Wildcats are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against Wisconsin
Badgers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games
Badgers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games played in week 5

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Temple Owls (-9 ½)

The end result is that the Yellow Jackets have now failed to cover in each of their last 6 games. There are a lot of reasons to like Temple against the spread here, starting with the fact that they have covered in 10 of their last 14. They are also 5-0 ATS in each of their last 5 games in Week 5.

It has been a rough start to the season for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, which is no real surprise when you consider that they have a new head coach who is trying to change the offense. That is going to take some time to happen, with the results being that the Yellow Jackets are struggling to get points on the board.

College Football Week 5 Betting Trends

Yellow Jackets are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games
Yellow Jackets are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games played in September
Owls are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games
Owls are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games played in week 5

Stanford Cardinal (-3 ½) at Oregon State Beavers in College Football Week 5

The Cardinal are having a rough season, as they will be coming into this one with a 1-3 record after the first 4 weeks. They have the same record against the spread, which might have you looking at a bit of an upset here.

The thing to remember here is that the Cardinal have had a serious edge over the Oregon State Beavers, winning 9 of their last 10 meetings. During that stretch, the Cardinal covered the spread in 7 of those 10 games. The size of this spread makes me think that the Cardinal might just be able to cover.

Previous Betting News

With the opening month of the college football season now in the books, it has become very clear who the playoff favorites are going to be this year. There is a definite separation taking place between the top 4 and the rest of the top 25, but we all know that one bad week from any of those top teams can mean a drastic change in the overall rankings. Based on the latest NCAAF Odds, we are going to look at a bunch of the big Week 5 games today, giving you some SU and O/U picks, as well as the ATS picks that we are delivering here, so let’s get right to it.

NCAA Football Week 5 ATS Betting Picks

UL Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns vs Alabama Crimson Tide (+48 ½)

I generally always steer clear of spreads of this size, but this one seems too tough to resist. The Alabama Crimson Tide have looked totally unstoppable through the opening 4 weeks of the season, which is why they are in as such heavy favorites here.

If they can match their scoring average of close to 54 PPG this weekend, they should cover, as I find it hard to believe that the Ragin’ Cajuns are going to be getting any joy on the offensive side of the football. Nick Saban rarely takes pity on any team, so don’t expect the Crimson Tide to take their foot off the gas at any stage of this game.

Latest NCAA Football Week 5 Betting Trends

Louisiana-Lafayette is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games
Louisiana-Lafayette is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games on the road
Alabama is 4-1-1 ATS in its last 6 games
Alabama is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games at home

West Virginia Mountaineers (-3 ½) vs Texas Tech Red Raiders

Texas Tech picked up a massive win last week when they took down the Oklahoma State Cowboys and their high-powered offense. The question now is whether they can stop a very good offensive unit in back to back weeks, as they will be up against Will Grier and a very solid Mountaineers attack, one of the best from the Big 12.

West Virginia is 3-0 to start the season after being forced to sit out in Week 3 due to weather issues. They are as good as always on the offensive side of the game, but they also appear to have tightened up defensively, which is why I like them to win and cover on the road.

Latest NCAA Football Week 5 Betting Trends

West Virginia is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games when playing Texas Tech
Texas Tech is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games
Texas Tech is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games at home

Virginia Cavaliers (+6) vs NC State Wolfpack

The last 10 meetings between these two have essentially been split down the middle, with all the stats being about as close to the same as it gets. The Cavaliers have a slight 6-4 SU edge, but they are 5-5 ATS in those 10 games.

That would suggest that we are going to see another close one here, and what I am looking at is that the Cavaliers have covered in all 4 of their games to start the season. They are also 2-1 ATS in their last 3 when in as an underdog. They are just 2-4 ATS in their last 6 visits to NC State, but I like them to keep it close and cover this weekend.

Latest NCAA Football Week 5 Betting Trends

Virginia is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games
Virginia is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games when playing on the road against North Carolina St
North Carolina State is 3-7 ATS in its last 10 games at home

Pittsburgh Panthers vs UCF Knights (-15)

The Pittsburgh Panthers are having an up and down start to the season, where they have found it impossible to build any sort of momentum. A good win over Georgia Tech in Week 2 was followed up by a bad loss to UNC the following week.

They look to be in for another rough go of it against a UCF team that has been lighting up the scoreboard in their 3 games this season. Pittsburgh has only managed 2 cover twice in their last 7 road games, while UCF has covered in 4 of their last 5 games on home field. I see this one going only one way, which is in favor of the Knights.

Trio Of Week 5 College Football ATS Winning Predictions

Previous Betting News

If you’re ready for some top NCAA football ATS picks for Week 5 of the 2016 college football season, then you’re in luck!

Thanks to the trio of Week 5 expert picks that you’re about to get, you’re going to have a fantastic chance to cash in not once or twice, but a whopping three times. Okay, with that said, let’s get started.

In Depth Analysis On The Trio Of Week 5 College Football ATS Winning Predictions

Baylor Bears (4-0) at Iowa State Cyclones (1-3)

When: Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 12:00 PM
Where: Jack Trice Stadium
TV: FS1
NCAAF Odds: Iowa State Cyclones +16.5

Analysis:
It’s all nice and everything that Iowa State Cyclones got a rare win last weekend, but make no mistake about it, the Cyclones are going down and going down hard in this Week 5 matchup. Baylor Bears is far superior on both sides of the ball and should be able to make an ATS win stand up against an Iowa State team that has issues all over the place.

I know the Bears are 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and just 1-4-1 ATS in their last six road games against Iowa State, but these two teams really aren’t close in talent level or on-field performances. Baylor has scored an insane 165 points in the last three meetings against the Cyclones and should be able to approach the 50-point plateau once again in this meeting.

My Pick: Baylor 42 Iowa State 21

Oregon Ducks (2-2) at Washington State Cougars (1-2)

When: Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 3:33 PM
Where: Martin Stadium
TV: Pac-12 Network
NCAAF Odds: Washington State Cougars +1

Analysis:
I know Oregon can score the ball with the best teams in the nation, but the Ducks are clearly missing something this season on both sides of the ball, making the Washington State Cougars the pick to get the outright home win and accompanying ATS cover.

While Oregon has gone 0-4-1 ATS in its last five games, the Cougars are 8-4 SU in its last 12 games and an incendiary 11-2 ATS in their last 13 games. Expect points aplenty on this contest, but Washington State wins outright.

My Pick: Washington State 35 Oregon 31

Wisconsin Badgers (4-0) at Michigan Wolverines (4-0)

When: Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 3:30 PM
Where: Michigan Stadium
TV: ABC
NCAAF Odds: Michigan Wolverines -10.5

Analysis:
I know Michigan is playing at home and has an elite defense, but the fact of the matter is that, on paper, the Wolverines aren’t actually better than their Big ten rivals in this contest. I love the way Wisconsin is playing defense this season and the way that quarterback Alex Hornibrook has taken control of the offense the last two games.

The Badgers are 4-1 ATS in their L/5 games against a team with a winning record and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. More importantly, the Badgers are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five road games against Michigan and 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine meetings against the Wolverines overall. Not only do the Badgers cover the college football betting line, but they do so by winning outright!

My Pick: Wisconsin 24 Michigan 21

Analyzing the Best College Football Betting Week 5 ATS Picks

Connecticut at BYU (-17.5)

The Cougars are a mad bunch right now after suffering an embarrassing shutout loss to Michigan last week, which translates to bad news for Connecticut. A big bounce-back win plus cover should thus be in the offing here for BYU.

MISSISSIPPI STATE (+6.5) at Texas AM

Dak Prescott and the Bulldogs are able to take care of things on the ground and in the air, while the Aggies don’t know how to run the ball. The ground advantage should allow Mississippi State to keep this one close, if not earn them the win altogether.

Alabama at GEORGIA (-2.5)

Nick Chubb vs. Derrick Henry. Winner: Chubb! Grayson Lambert vs. Whoever plays at QB for Alabama. Winner: Lambert! Home advantage vs. Road Fright. Winner: Home Advantage! Final Tally: Georgia 3, Alabama 0. Conclusion: Georgia covers the 2.5 points!

OLE MISS (-7) at Florida

The Rebels were on rest last week after an exhausting win in Alabama in Week 3. Expect the Rebels to fire on all cylinders in this game en route to the typical big wins we’ve seen them deliver this season.

TEXAS TECH (+17) at Baylor

After giving the Horned Frogs an upset scare last week and piling that many points, I totally like the underrated Red Raiders sticking it out to Baylor and taking this game all the way down to the wire to cover the spread.

ARIZONA STATE (+14) at Ucla

UCLA may be good, but there’s no way the Sun Devils will be giving this many points, not when they’ll be looking to do their best in this rivalry game and at least come out of LA with their heads held high.

OREGON (-7) at Colorado

BLOWOUT ALERT! The Ducks have owned the Buffaloes for as long as I can remember in recent history, and that is not going to change just because Oregon had one really bad day against the Utes. FYI, the Ducks are 5-0 SU/ATS in their last 5 meetings against Colorado.

Arkansas at TENNESSEE (-6.5)

Arkansas’ defense won’t be able to stop Tennessee’s offense, and the Razorbacks don’t have the firepower to go toe-to-toe with the Vols in a shootout affair. Give me Tennessee with the points.

Florida State at WAKE FOREST (+19)

The Seminoles are good, but not that good to beat Wake Forest by three touchdowns.

Notre Dame at CLEMSON (-1.5)

I do really like how Notre Dame have held their own despite suffering several injuries, including that of QB Malik Zaire. Unfortunately, Clemson means real business and no amount of CJ Prosise’s running game or DeShone Kizer’s Hail Marys will be bailing out the Fighting Irish from the impending defeat to Deshaun Watson and his impeccable Tigers.

Picks Guide: The teams picked to win the ATS in our college football lines have been specially CAPITALIZED for distinction, and have the corresponding points spread next to them in brackets. For example: CLEMSON (-1.5) is the ATS pick in the Notre Dame at Clemson clash.
