In addition to their superstar signal-caller, the Tigers also have a very talented, if underrated running back in Wayne Gallman. The fleet-footed junior has rushed 634 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. As good as they are offensively, the Tigers are even better defensively despite losing a handful of players to this year’s NFL draft. Clemson ranks 14th in total yards allowed (317.3 ypg), 35th against the run (136.2 ypg), 16th against the pass (181.2 ypg) and a stellar 12th in points allowed (17.6 ppg). After falling just short against the Tide in last season’s title tilt, the Tigers look like they could very well accomplish their national championship goal this time around.

Alabama (9-0 SU, 7-2 ATS)

Alabama ranks 17th in total offense (498.0 ypg), 10th in rushing (268.3 ypg), 65th in passing (229.6 ypg) and a stellar eighth in scoring (43.8 ppg). However, the Tide have a young starting quarterback in Jalen Hurts that is clearly athletically gifted, but is still trying to find his way as evidenced by his miniscule 12 TD passes and six interceptions. Alabama is also lacking a real star at running back, although the team’s defense is still monstrous, ranking fourth in points allowed (14.8 ppg). Last but not least, Alabama head coach Nick Saban may be the best head coach in all of college football whether you like him or not. In the end, the Tide are the prohibitive favorites for a reason.

Michigan (9-0 SU, 5-4 ATS)

Whether you love arrogant Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh or despite him like the dickens, there’s no denying the fact that the man can coach the game of football. Harbaugh’s got the second-ranked Wolverines back on the national map in no time at all and now, Michigan has the look of a very real national championship contender. Michigan averages a stellar 46.6 points per game to rank third in scoring while also limiting their opponents to just 11.6 points per game defensively to rank first nationally. Quarterback Wilton Speight is completing an impressive 64.5 percent of his passes with 15 touchdown passes and the Wolverines have a flat-out star in do-it-all defensive back Jabrill Peppers.

Western Michigan (9-0 SU, 7-2 ATS)

If you didn’t know it before, you know it now…14th-ranked Western Michigan leads the nation in turnover margin. The Broncos have a fantastic trio of stars in quarterback Zach Terrell, wide receiver Corey Davis and running back Jarvion Franklin. Terrell has thrown 23 TD passes and just one interception all season while Davis leads the MAC in receiving yards and Franklin ranks second in the conference in rushing yards. Unfortunately, because of their conference and level of competition, the Broncos have no real shot to win the national championship.

Washington (9-0 SU, 5-4 ATS)

The fourth-ranked Washington Huskies (9-0 SU, 5-4 ATS) have an elite quarterback in Jake Browning with the strong-armed sophomore completing a scorching 67.9 percent of his passes for 2,273 yards with a mind-boggling 34 touchdown passes and just three interceptions. In addition to their superstar signal-caller, Washington also has a gifted running back in Myles Gaskin. The elusive sophomore has rushed for 952 yards and eight touchdowns this season while averaging a stellar 6.3 yards per carry. The Huskies rank a fantastic fourth in scoring at 36.1 points per game and also own one of the nation’s best defenses as they rank a stellar seventh in points allowed at 15.7 per contest. In addition to all of this, I swear, Washington looks like a team with a chip on its collective shoulders.
