The Eagles and the Commanders are long-time rivals. These two NFC East teams will battle on the prime time stage of Monday Night Football, as the Commanders will travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles. These two teams are heading in opposite directions. The Eagles are 8-0 and are the last undefeated team in the league. The Commanders are 4-5 and are in last place in the NFC East.
Let’s take a look at each of the teams, and then we’ll give you our NFL Betting prediction for this Monday Night showdown.
A Monday Night NFC East Showdown | NFL Week 10 Betting Preview: Seahawks versus Buccaneers Analysis
Washington Commanders
The Commanders franchise has had a rough year. Team owner Daniel Snyder has been embroiled in controversy, and the team on the field hasn’t played well. The Commanders have had some key injuries to starting quarterback Carson Wentz and defensive end Chase Young. Even though injuries have played an issue, the team just hasn’t played well either. The offense is one of the worst in the league, and the defense hasn’t gotten key stops when it’s needed to.
Offensively, Taylor Heinicke will be under center for the Commanders. He’ll have Bryan Robinson and Antonio Gibson behind him. Terry McLaurin has been playing better as of late, so we look for Heinicke to try and target him a lot in this one.
All-in-all, it has been a rough season for the Commanders, and now they get to make a trip to Philadelphia. As they say, “when it rains, it pours”.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles could be the most balanced team in the NFL. Jalen Hurts and the offense is playing well, and the defense is one of the best in the league. Let’s start with the offense. Hurts has been a big surprise this season. Now that he has AJ Brown to throw to, Hurts has looked very good. With Brown and Devonta Smith, he has one of the best receiving duos in the league. Dallas Goedert has been a very valuable weapon as well. This offense is firing on all cylinders, and can put up points in a hurry.
As for the defense, even though teams can hurt it with the run, the defensive line can get to the quarterback in a hurry. The last time these two teams met, they put a ton of pressure on Wentz, and had numerous sacks. Philadelphia’s secondary is also one of the best in the league, so it could be a long day for Heinicke and company.
Prediction
Philadelphia is a 10.5-point favorite in this one. With a very good offense, and a phenomenal defense, it’s hard to give the Commanders much of a chance. While Heinicke and company will hang around during the first half, we see the Eagles pulling away in the second half. We have the final score having the Eagles prevail 28-14, thus covering the rather large spread. The Eagles will continue to be undefeated, while the tough season for the Commanders will just get worse. We’ll be hearing a lot of “Fly Eagles Fly” blaring through the speakers on Monday night!
