After dropping the opening game, India powered back with two clinical wins to take the series 2-1 on the weekend. In the first match, India batted first to post 208/6, but Australia were too good, chasing it down with four balls to spare. However, the next two matches saw India chase, where they chased down 90 in a rain-affected game, as well as 186 to win the series.
The men in blue will be pleased with their batting form, with Sharma, Kohli, Yadav and Pandya all playing impressive innings.
South Africa, on the other hand, come into this series not having played white ball cricket for almost two months. Their latest cricket has been a Test series against England, which they lost 2-1, failing to pass 179 with the bat in either of their two losses. Prior to that they had a soft 2-0 T20 series win over Ireland, which followed a solid 2-1 T20 win against England in July.
India are the -194 favorites heading into the first match.
Pakistan vs England T20 Series – Wednesday, Friday and Sunday
Four games into a seven-game T20 series between Pakistan and England, and we’re no closer to knowing who is the better team yet.
The No.2 and No.4 teams in the world have been going at it in a packed schedule that saw them play four T20Is last week, sharing the honors 2-2. This week will see the remaining three matches completed, with a winner being revealed on Sunday.
Both teams have impressed with the bat—England by scoring 221/3 in the third T20, and Pakistan by striking 203/0 off 19.3 in their chase of 199/5. Yesterday’s game was the closest by far, with Pakistan stuttering to 166/4 and England looking on target to chase it down, before a series of rapid strikes saw the visitors bowled out three runs short, with four balls remaining in the innings.
So far it’s been the young players who have stood up for England, with Will Jacks and Ben Duckett both having impressive innings. For Pakistan, their bowlers have been tight, and their formidable opening pair of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are back to their world-beating best.
Game five plays out on Wednesday, with the bookies labeling it a coin toss at -110 each way.
