Top T20, ODI Cricket Series to Bet On: New Zealand v India, Australia v England Analysis

Less than 48 hours ago, England struck the winning runs against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. This marked the culmination of almost a month’s worth of T20 cricket, with all eyes on the matches taking place in Australia.

This week, there ain’t no rest for the wicked, as three of the semifinalists from the T20 World Cup are back in action, alongside the humbled hosts Australia who have had a week off after missing out on making the playoffs.

We preview the two series coming up this Cricket Betting week: New Zealand hosting India for a T20 series, and Australia hosting England for an ODI series.

Australia vs England (Thursday and Saturday)

England will be straight back into action this week, hopefully after packing in a few electrolytes to recover from Sunday night’s celebrations.

On Thursday, they head to Adelaide for the first of three One-Day Internationals against Australia. While World Cup final hero Ben Stokes won’t be featuring in this tour, with the veteran retiring from ODI cricket earlier this year, the lion’s share of the two team’s squads will be the same as the ones that competed in the T20 World Cup this past month.

It will be interesting to see what this series brings. On the one hand, for England, they’ll probably find it hard to get up for it, having just poured all their effort into winning the T20 World Cup. On the other hand, they won’t want to have the shine taken off their big win by suffering a bad loss here, so will want to put in a decent shift.

Australia, meanwhile, will be out for redemption. They were humiliated in the recent T20 World Cup by entering as favorites yet not making it through to the knockout phase. No doubt there will be a few players playing for their places, and the whole team will have a point to prove.

The home side surprisingly leads in the odds, with Australia -141 and England +105 heading into the first match.

New Zealand vs India (Friday and Sunday)

This time last year, New Zealand made a deep run to the T20 World Cup final, then had to go out and play a T20 series against India a few days later.

They were comprehensively beaten 3-0.

This year, however, both New Zealand and India exited the T20 World Cup at the semifinal stage. India were looking like hot tournament favorites, that is, until they weren’t, and got trounced by England in the semifinals. New Zealand, as usual, punched above their weight and fell slightly short against Pakistan in their semifinal.

A reasonable number of senior players will be sitting this tour out, off the back of the T20 World Cup. For India, their top three in Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli, will be taking no part, while coach Rahul Dravid will also miss the tour. New Zealand has expressed an intention to likely rest fast bowler Trent Boult and captain Kane Williamson as well.

Odds for this one are about as tight as it gets, with India narrowly ahead at -128 compared to New Zealand’s -105.
