Okay Game of Thrones lovers, with more twists and turns than a Formula 1 racetrack and just two episodes remaining until the widely-acclaimed program comes to a conclusion, it’s time to preview what could lie ahead on episode 5 of Season 8 in one of the most watched shows in modern day television viewing history.
Following last Sunday’s Episode 4, “The Last of the Starks,” HBO has released a preview trailer for Episode 5 and it looks like an absolute thriller is coming this weekend. Heading into episode 5, the time has clearly come for the final showdown between Daenerys Targaryen and Cersei Lannister. Only one queen can rule over Westeros and GoT fans everywhere want to know who it will be. The photos and preview for this week’s episode shows the two sides gearing up for one of the biggest battles in the series’ history.
One released photo shows a triumphant Cersei, while another shows Golden Company commander Harry Strickland leading his mercenary army into battle. Dany and Jon’s troops, barely survived the Battle of Winterfell and from the episode 5 preview, both Jon and Ser Davos, both have the look of leaders that aren’t overly excited about being at King’s Landing.
Other images for this week’s coming episode show Dany, Tyrion, and Grey Worm back at the stronghold of Dragonstone. Rather than immediately attack Cersei after the death of Missandei, Dany seems to be waiting for Jon’s troops to shore up her own forces. Still, it’s unclear whether we will actually see the final battle for the Iron Throne take place in episode 5 or if that battle is being saved for the series finale. Episode 5 will run 1 hour and 20 minutes, so GoT fans should expect some major action, even if it’s not the big battle that everyone has been expecting.
