Counter-Strike: Global Offensive BLAST Premier Oct. 30 Edition

Astralis vs. MiBR – BLAST Premier Fall Series 2020

Astralis are coming into this match following a disappointing third-place finish at the DreamHack Open Fall 2020. They got off to a flying start with convincing wins over Heroic, G2 Esports, GODSENT and fnatic, but eventually lost to Team Vitality (1-2) and Heroic (1-2) in the upper and lower bracket finals, respectively.

Nevertheless, Astralis have won the ESL Pro League Season 12 Europe only a week prior, where they lost only one out of 10 games played, and even that loss came against their local rivals and current No. 2 team in the world, Heroic.

MiBR are a huge enigma heading into this bout, namely due to the departure of three of their key players earlier in September. Since then, the Brazilian squad were desperately looking for a way to rebuild their team.

They eventually settled on the signing of Lucas “LUCAS1” Teles and two stand-in players Leonardo “leo_drk” Oliveira and Vinicius “v$m” Moreira.

There is no hiding the fact MiBR are not nearly as strong as they used to be, and their recent showings make it hard to argue with that. They have recently attended a B-Tier tournament LOOT.BET/CS Season 7, where they edged past Apeks (2-1) but lost to Gambit Youngsters (2-1).

Not only are we concerned with the lack of quality in MiBR, but it’s also worth considering that the two stand-in players have no experience competing against a high-profile team such as Astralis. MiBR are not expected to win here, which could benefit them as they have nothing to lose, but that does not change how we feel about the final result.

Anything other than a 2-0 win for Astralis will be considered as a major disappointment, especially considering all five core players that won four Major Championships are now back on the team and ready to help Astralis reach their old heights. Bet on Astralis to win 2-0!

Prediction: Astralis -1.50 Maps

FURIA vs. G2 – BLAST Premier Fall Series 2020

FURIA are on cloud nine after their title-winning run at the Intel Extreme Masters XV – New York Online: North America. It marked their third tournament title since August when they won DreamHack Open Summer 2020: North America in addition to ESL Pro League Season 12: North America in September.

Despite their achievements, we have to note FURIA played mostly against NA teams, which are objectively weaker than what they will face in Europe, so slightly worse performances from the Brazilian squad are expected. Nevertheless, FURIA took down Liquid and Evil Genuises, which is nothing to sneeze at.

G2 Esports are entering this bout with a streak of four consecutive losses against the likes of GODSENT, FaZe, OG and BIG. We would not criticize them too much for those results since the atmosphere in the team was not ideal following the news of a roster change.

G2 Esports have recently ended DreamHack Open Fall 2020 in 12th place, where they managed only two wins against Heroic and Endpoint, which is not too promising. Having said that, we expect much better results from the Spanish esports organization now that they have acquired Nikola “NiKo” Kovač from FaZe. He should prove to be a massive addition to the already strong CS:GO roster.

This will be a very interesting match, both because we will likely get to see NiKo in a new team and the fact that it will mark FURIA’s first competitive match in Europe. G2 have won only 35% of their matches across the past three weeks, which is significantly lower than FURIA’s 80% win rate. It’s fair to say they will be fighting an uphill battle, but with NiKo, there is definitely a chance G2 can triumph. Expect the series to go into the distance.

Prediction: Over 2.50 Maps
