eSports Betting: League of Legends LCS Games for August 8th

Written by on August 7, 2020

The regular season in the LCS, the North American version of the League of Legends, is winding down. There are just 2 rounds left to play and only 1 playoff spot still available. That might make things seem a little anti-climactic, but there is still seeding to consider, as teams will want to make their playoff path as smooth as possible. Saturday is going to be a busy day in the LCS, as we will have 8 of the 10 teams in the league in action. Let’s take a closer look at the 4 games that we have on tap for Saturday, along with their League of Legends odds.

eSports Betting: League of Legends LCS Games for August 8th

100 Thieves (-217) Vs Dignitas (+146) – 4 PM EST

The battle for the 6th and final playoff spot is still going, with 100 Thieves needing a win here to keep their hopes alive. They are sitting at 6-10 on the season, which leaves them 1 win back of Evil Geniuses, the team currently occupying that final spot. If they could have chosen a team to play to have a real shot at winning, they might well have chosen Dignitas. At 4-12 this season, they are tied for last in the league and have been put of the playoff picture for quite some time now. I think 100 Thieves get the win they need here.

Golden Guardians (-140) Vs Evil Geniuses (-102) – 5 PM EST

You can bet that the Evil geniuses will be watching the first game of the day, knowing that a loss for 100 Thieves combined with a win for them will secure them a playoff spot. Getting the win here, though, is certainly not in any way guaranteed, as they will be up against a Golden Guardians team that is 9-7 on the season and comfortably in the #5 spot. It was the Golden Guardians who came away with the victory in their earlier meeting this season, and I think they get the same result in this one.

Immortals (+326) Vs Team Liquid (+588) – 6 PM EST

This is one of those matchups where you should probably look at adding the favorite to a parlay ticket instead of taking them to win straight up, as that is where you can see better value. This is, after all, the best team in the league versus the team at the bottom. Team Liquid have looked fantastic all season long, posting a 13-3 record to sit atop the LCS. The Immortals have not been able to get anything going and are just 4-12 on the season. Should be a straightforward win for Team Liquid.

Counter Logic Gaming (+254) Vs FlyQuest (-416) – 7 PM EST

We are at the stage of the season where some teams are playing for nothing more than pride, which is very much the case with Counter Logic Gaming. They are sitting at 5-11 on the season and well out of the playoff picture. They are going against a FlyQuest team that is in 4th right now, but who have a shot at moving up in the final couple of weeks. They are at 10-6, just 1 win back of two of the teams ahead of them. A win for Counter Logic in this one.
