eSports Betting: League of Legends LEC Games for Feb. 19th

Written by on February 16, 2021

After hitting all of our betting predictions for Friday, February 3, MyBookie.ag returns with another set of free League of Legends betting tips for three LoL European Championship (LEC) Spring fixtures. Today, we take a look at games featuring Schalke 04, SK Gaming, MAD Lions, Excel, Misfits Gaming and Rogue, who will clash for the second of the 2021 season. Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming matches so you can bet against their League of Legends odds.

eSports Betting Tips & Predictions – LEC 2021 Spring – Week 5, Day 1

Schalke 04 Vs SK Gaming  – Friday, February 19 – 18:00 CET

Schalke 04 enter this match off a disappointing 0-2 week when they dropped the ball against Astralis and MAD Lions. It’s quite shocking to see Schalke lose against teams such as MAD and Astralis after they had no issues taking down G2 Esports and Rogue only a couple of weeks prior, as it suggests their run through Week 3-4 was perhaps nothing more than a fluke.

S04’s next opponents SK Gaming are playing much better than expected but that’s hardly a praise considering, SK seem to do fine only against other mid- and bottom-table squads. Last week, SK lost against Fnatic in quite an explosive fashion, and while they managed to edge out a win against Vitality, we would be hard-pressed to say SK were truly the better team that day.

SK already lost against Schalke 04 just over two weeks ago, when these two sides met during the second week of the split, and it’s hard to believe this clash will end differently.

Looking at the match-ups, S04 field much better players in the top and mid lane and should enjoy a marginal advantage in the bottom lane as well. The only reason we are not mentioning the jungle roles is because Erberk “Gilius” Demir is a very inconsistent player that can either prove to be a class above Kristian “TynX” Østergaard Hansen or underperform and look like a fool.

Regardless of Gilius’s inconsistencies, S04 are still a significantly stronger team across the board that shouldn’t be losing games like this. A moneyline bet on S04 offers solid odds at 1.50 (-200) which is in our book a great bet to take.

Prediction: Schalke 04 to win

MAD Lions Vs Excel – Friday, February 19 – 19:00 CET

The second fixture of the day will serve us with a very exciting bout between Excel and MAD Lions. These two sides have a completely different idea of how to approach their games, with Excel prioritizing more late-game scaling compositions, whereas MAD Lions like to take advantage of early aggression to get themselves in the lead and snowball to victory.

All eSports bookmakers favor MAD Lions, which seems fair, considering they have already beaten Excel two weeks ago, and enter this match off a very convincing performance against Schalke 04. Their recent success, however, hardly justify the shorter odds.

Excel are a team that might have some flaws, but they’re by no means as weak as the betting odds suggest. They are 4-1 in their last five outings, which includes wins against Astralis, Misfits, SK Gaming and Vitality, while their only loss came against a much stronger Fnatic.

The main reason why we are not high on MAD Lions is the inconsistent performances of their ADC Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság. Although the 18-year-old Chech LoL pro has proven before he is a world-class player, he has also singlehandedly lost a few games for his team this split.

Due to their playstyle, Excel rarely win with huge leads but that also works the other way around in their losses. In fact, Excel are one of the most stable teams in the league and while they might lack the individual quality to compete for the title, Excel never back down from a fight and consistently produce close affairs.

Prediction: Excel +6.5 kills

Prediction: Excel to win

Misfits Gaming Vs Rogue – Friday, February 18 – 21:00 CET

From a betting perspective, Misfits Gaming are an excellent team to bet on – but only when they’re faced with a significantly stronger side. That is largely due to their volatile and aggressive playstyle, which can catch their opponents off guard, and makes them a punch-up underdog.

That said, this is not a match were I would be comfortable betting on Misfits, simply because Rogue are significantly better. Not only do Rogue field one of the strongest rosters in the West, but they also play one of the cleanest LoL in the world.

Rogue have a very good idea of how to approach their games, know when to take a fight and when to back down, which makes them very difficult to defeat. Even though they have lost their most recent bout with G2 Esports, it was a valiant effort from Emil “Larssen” Larsson and his crew, who came extremely close to derailing arguably the strongest LoL team Europe has ever had.

Even though Misfits are priced as high as 3.50 (+250) on most esports bookmakers, they’re hardly worth a bet, and much of the same holds true for a money line bet on Rogue (1.28 /-360). That said, we like a bet on over 24.5 kills.

Rogue might not be the most aggressive team in the league, but they’re known to match the aggression of their opponents and we expect that to show here. Last time out these sides parted ways with only 21 kills, however, we wouldn’t put too much weight on a result that came very early into the season. Expect an explosive game with plenty of kills.

Prediction: Over 24.5 kills
