Team Vitality Vs SK Gaming
- When: Saturday, June 19 – 17:00 CEST
Team Vitality lost their second game of the split on Sunday when they got crushed by Misfits Gaming. The Bunnies were clearly the better team that day and were excellent in exposing Vitality’s flaws.
You could argue that Vitality would have won had they drafted differently; however, I’m not too convinced with the quality of this team. Most of all, however, I’m not confident with their playstyle.
Vitality have proven to be a very aggressive team that will go all in time and time again until something breaks. Usually, it’s them who break as they’re a bit too reckless with their attempts.
SK Gaming are arguably one of the weakest teams in the league, but they have proven to be very resilient and hard to compete with during the early game. However, they still lack mid-late game strength and tend to make too many mistakes when they’re ahead.
Both teams are prone to making mistakes in their games, making me believe we’re in for a complete coin-flip fixture. Vitality seem like a better team that will likely win solely off their individual quality. But unless they clean up their game, this will be a very chaotic affair with plenty of kills across the board.
Prediction: Over 25.5 kills
Misfits Vs Astralis
- When: Saturday, June 19 – 18:00 CEST
Misfits are priced as heavy favorites for this bout, which makes a lot of sense. They’re the only unbeaten team in the league on the split and are easily one of the best performing teams heading into Week 2 of LEC 2021 Summer.
Astralis, on the other side, enter the second week of LEC 2021 Summer with a 2-1 record, but I wouldn’t overreact to their 67% win rate. That’s mainly because Astralis’ only two victories came against Excel and SK Gaming, which aren’t exactly top-tier teams.
Astralis have had some flashes of greatness and looked good in some of their games, so you must give them some props for that. However, whether they can be as consistent against the league’s top teams remains to be seen.
We’re still very early into the season, so it’s not wise to overreact to the teams’ records. While you can’t deny that Misfits have been performing much better during the first week of play, it’s not like they’re flawless.
Astralis and Misfits tend to get involved in chaotic and high-scoring games, which leads me to believe we’re in for a bloodbath on Saturday. eSports bookmakers have set the total kill line at 22.5, which seems a bit low, assuming Astralis can put up enough resistance not to let Misfits run away with an early lead.
Prediction: Over 22.5 kills
