eSports Betting: LPL League Of Legends April 24th & 25th Matches

Written by on April 23, 2020

During this awful global coronavirus crisis, those of us who loves sports have felt a little starved of excitement, but many of us have started to pay a little more attention to eSports. The fact that the NBA has started eSports tournaments and the MLS has live streamed simulated games on the schedule to great success has turned a lot of people on to the video gaming world. Right now, the spring leagues in the League of Legends World are, for the most part, in the playoff stage. One of those leagues, the LPL, which is based in China, will see the quarterfinals go this weekend. Let’s go and see how each team match up against each other and their betting league of legends odds.

One thing that you may have noticed if you are new to eSports is that the playoffs can be a little convoluted at times. The LPL is a little more straightforward than most, though, with 8 teams heading into the playoffs. The top 2 seeds advance directly to the semifinals, with the 3 and 4 seeds heading into the quarterfinals. The remaining 4 teams play in the opening round. As far as the brackets go, seeds 1, 4, 5, and 8 are on one side, wile 2, 3, 6, and 7 are on the other. The quarterfinal games will be played on Friday and Saturday, so let’s take a closer look at the matchups.

Team WE Vs TOP Esports – Friday, April 24 at 5 AM EST

Team WE finished the league of legends regular season with an 8-8 record, which was enough to get them in as the #8 seed in the spring playoffs. They had to really battle to hold on at the end, winning each of their final 2 games to maintain their playoff spot. They opened up their postseason with a first round game against eStar, who came in as the #5 seed. It was a bit of an upset, with Team WE winning the best of 5 series 3-1. Next up is an even tougher game against #4 seeded TOP Esports, who finished the season with a very respectable 11-5 record. They too finished the season strong, winning 3 in a row coming down the stretch. Team WE beat TOP in their lone regular season meeting, but I think they come up short here.

Edward Gaming (+241) Vs FunPlus Phoenix (-400) – Saturday, April 25 at 5 AM EST

The second quarterfinal matchup is set for Saturday morning and sees Edward Gaming, who came in as the #6 seed, go against the #3 seeded FunPlus Phoenix. Edward Gaming finished the season at 9-7, but with back to back losses to close things out, they put themselves in a bit of a tough spot heading into the playoffs, where they ended up going against #7 seeded Royal Never Give Up. Edward Gaming made that one look easy, winning the best of 5 series by a score of 3-1. FunPlus Phoenix went 12-4 on the season to finish 3rd in the LPL, which put them right into the quarterfinals. It was the Phoenix who won the regular league of legends season meeting with Edward, and I think they win again and move on to the semi’s.
