Call of Duty League Stage 4 Betting Preview for Saturday, May 29 Matches

Minnesota RØKKR Vs Paris Legion

  • When: Saturday, May 29 – 12:00 PDT

Although no one considers either of these two sides as serious CDL Championship contenders, you could argue that one is better than the other. Minnesota RØKKR are a talented team that have had their moments of greatness this season and have shown that their ceiling is high, but that’s about it.

RØKKR had a disappointing performance in CDL Stage 3. They finished the group stage with a 2-3 record but failed to make it past the London Royal Ravens, who eliminated them from the Major.

Similarly, Paris Legion did not manage to impress. They ended the group stage with a 1-4 record and ended up losing their Major opener against the London squad with 1-3.

These two sides met twice in 2021. The first clash ended with Legion winning 3-0, but they struggled to repeat that success at the end of April when RØKKR won the rematch with 3-1.

Neither team is in great form, so it’s reasonable to explore the possibility of an upset win for the Paris Legion. Esports bookmakers have them priced as high as +225 to win, while you can find them at around -120 to win at least two maps.

We’re going with the latter prediction. Paris Legion might not be one of the best teams in the league, but with how much RØKKR have been struggling of late, you have to have some faith in the underdogs.

Prediction: Paris Legion +1.5 maps

Los Angeles Thieves Vs Seattle Surge

  • When: Saturday, May 29 – 13:30 PDT

Unlike how it is with the first match of the day, this one doesn’t come off as a fixture with upset potential. Seattle Surge are the undisputed worst team in the league, and it doesn’t seem like they’re going to improve anytime soon.

Earlier last week, Surge parted ways with Jacob “Decemate” Cato in a bid to introduce some stability to the roster. But it’s not like they were performing much better before adding him to the lineup at the start of the month.

Seattle enter CDL Stage 4 on a seven-game losing streak. They have produced an abysmal 6-21 round differential and two clean sweep losses during that stretch.

It’s important to note that the only team Seattle managed to keep on their toes during their losing streak were the Los Angeles Thieves (2-3). It’s fair to give Seattle Surge some praise for their relatively successful performance against the Thieves, but we don’t believe they’ll look as good the second time out.

Shortly after that loss, the Thieves signed the reigning CDL champion Cuyler “Huke” Garland to their roster and instantly became a far better team. Thieves might need a bit more time to form a strong synergy and hit their ceiling, but they shouldn’t be losing games like this.

Prediction: Los Angeles Thieves -1.5 maps

New York Sublibliners Vs Los Angeles Guerrillas

  • When: Saturday, May 29 – 15:00 PDT

The New York Subliners enter this match as massive betting favorites, which makes a lot of sense. They’re the CDL Stage 3 Major finalists and arguably one of the top-three teams in the league.

Los Angeles Guerrillas, on the other side, are a top-10 team at most. They hold a disastrous 7-14 series record on the season with a 41% map win rate.

Guerrillas were actually good earlier into the season when they finished top-six in CDL Stage 1. Since then, they looked progressively worse, finishing ninth-10th in CDL Stage 2 and Stage 3.

Guerrillas enter CDL Stage 4 with a 1-5 record from their last five. Their only win during that stretch came against the Seattle Surge (3-1), yet even that is hardly worth celebrating considering how bad Surge are.

This is a type of match the New York Subliners shouldn’t be losing. They’re a clear cut above the Guerrillas and have already beaten them (3-1) twice this season. Another 3-1 victory is what I expect to see on Saturday.

Prediction: New York Subliners -1.5 maps
