One of the great things about watching and wagering on eSports is that there are games to choose from at all different hours of the day. This is because leagues are spread out all across the globe, and while some are bigger and more lucrative than others, it is still fun to watch the best gamers in the world go head to head in live play. One of the bigger events going on at the moment is the Counter Strike DreamHack League, which is a spring tournament spread out across 4 different regions: Europe, North America, Asia, and Oceania. It is the European and North American leagues that are the most prominent of the bunch, and they will be in action on Wednesday, May 27, with 3 games scheduled across those two regions. Let’s dive in an take a closer look at the games on tap and their Counter Strike betting odds.
Counter Strike DreamHack Masters May 27th Matches
Team Vitality Vs Ninjas in Pyjamas
Set to go off at 8 AM, this will be the first game in Group D in the European region, with Groups A and B already decided and having sent teams into the playoffs. Team Vitality are based in France and come into this event looking like a bit of a favorite. Their last competition came at the tail end of 2019, where they took first prize in EPICENTER 2019. In the DreamHack event in Malmo last season, they made it all the way to the final before losing to Fnatic.
Ninjas in Pyjamas are returning to action for the first time since 2017, but when they do play, they are one of the most successful eSports teams out there. The Swedish team have played in 10 major events since their inception in 2001, winning 7 of those and finishing second in the other 3. I am a little concerned about their time away from action, which is why I am leaning toward Team Vitality here.
Natus Vincere Vs Ence
Next up is another match in Group D in the European Region, with Natus Vincere set to take on Ence in the first game for both teams in this event. With their players mostly coming from Ukraine, Natus Vincere are a force to be reckoned with and are now on a streak of winning 3 straight events, with the latest coming in early March of this year. This will be their first appearance in the DH Masters.
Finnish team Ence are coming off a 2nd place finish in their last event, which was the Counter Strike: GO Asia Championships at the tail end of last year. They do have some experience in the DH Masters, finishing 2nd in Dallas last year. It is Natus Vincere who look like the team to beat here, though, so I am taking them to win.
100 Thieves Vs Cloud 9
For the final game of the day, which is set to go at 3:10 PM EST, we head to Group B of the North American region, where just 8 teams are taking part in this competition. This will be the first game of the DH League for 100 Thieves, but they have been very active through the first few months of the year. The downside is that they have not made much of an impact in the tournaments they have played in.
Cloud 9 have already played their first game of the spring season, picking up a win against the Evil Geniuses. They have not been as active as their opponents, but when they do play, they tend to win, as they have done in each of the last 3 events they have taken part in. I like Cloud 9 to keep their win streak alive here.
