Dota 2 ESL Meisterschaft 2020 season | Group B
The League Format
Given that this is the first season of the Dota 2 ESL Meisterschaft, qualifiers were held to determine which teams would get in. There were 3 open qualifiers held, from which 2 teams came from each. There was also a closed qualifier, which delivered teams into the league. All told, there are 12 teams split into 2 groups of 6.
The teams in each group will play a double round robin, which essentially means that they play each other twice over the course of the group stage. The matches will be played in a best of 2 format, so there is the possibility of ties happening in the group stage.
Each of the group winners automatically make the playoffs, where they will be placed in the semi-finals. The 2nd and 3rd place teams in each of the groups will go into the quarterfinals, where they will play for a shot at moving on. All other teams will be eliminated. The regular season is spilt into 10 Matchdays, running from May 19 to July 21.
The total prize pool will be €26,700, with €10,000 going to the winner.
An Introduction to Group B
