One thing that always comes as a bit of a surprise to people who are new to eSports is the global scale of the events and the amount of money up for grabs. Esports are wildly popular, and it can be argued that they are even more so now, with a lot of new fans emerging at a time when everything else was shut down. In Dota 2, the SEA League is now in full swing, with 10 teams going after a $100,000 prize pool. We say 10, but that number had now been reduced to 9 after Execration were forced to withdraw early on after some roster changes. There were 3 games on the schedule for July 2, but with the Execration forfeit, Geek Fam are automatically awarded the win. Let’s take a closer look at the 2 other games on tap so you can make your bets against their Dota 2 odds.
Dota 2 ONE Esports SEA League July 2nd Matches
7 of the teams taking part are there via direct invite, while the remaining 3, which included Execration, got in through qualification. The league phase consists of a single round robin, with each match being a best of 2, which means that ties are possible. The top 4 teams move into the Upper Bracket in the playoffs, while the next 4 teams go into the Lower Bracket. The bottom 2 teams are eliminated.
Reality Rift Vs NEW Esports
Given that Execration have now dropped out of the league, the reality is that there is only 1 elimination spot left to be filled. Reality Rift are going to need to up their game if they are to steer clear of that unwanted spot. They moved up from Tier 3 to Tier 2 earlier this year, but they are having a tough time adjusting and have not made much of an impact in the tournaments played since moving up. They are 1-2-2 to start the season, which has them in 7th.
It has been a very solid start to the season for NEW Esports, as they have yet to lose a game thus far, going 3-2-0, a run that has them sitting in 2nd in the SEA League. They are coming off a solid 2-0 win in over Neon in their last outing and have dropped just 2 games in their 5 matches to this point.
I think that NEW will continue their solid start of the season with a win here.
BOOM Esports Vs T1
This is a match that could have a major impact on the standings in the SEA League. BOOM Esports could open up a little near the top, while T1 could potentially move up a couple of spots with the win. BOOM is currently occupying 3rd in the league with a 2-3-0 record and will be looking to start picking up wins instead of draws, which is what is keeping them out of the top spot.
It has been an up and down start for T1, who come in at 2-1-2, although that pace would certainly put them in the playoffs. They won back to back events in Tier 3, but are trying to establish themselves in Tier 2, although it has been tough going.
This one has all the makings of a draw, which is a result that would likely suit both teams.
