eSports Betting: League of Legends: LEC and LCK Playoff Weekend

Written by on April 17, 2020

It’s an exciting time to be a fan of the League of Legends eSports leagues, as we are now heading into the playoffs in all the regions across the world. While some are just getting started with their postseason, others will see their spring championship decided this weekend. We thought that it might be fun to take a look at a pair of leagues that are now well into the playoff portion of the season, with the LEC (Europe) and the LCK (Korea) both getting set to crown their spring champions sooner rather than later. We will take an individual look at both leagues and make some predictions along the way. Let’s take a look at their League of Legends odds.

eSports Betting: League of Legends: LEC and LCK Playoff Weekend

LEC Spring Playoff 2020

6 teams from the 10-team LEC make it into the postseason, with the #5 and #6 seed heading into the loser’s bracket, while the remaining 4 head into the winner’s bracket. The two losers in the winner’s bracket then drop down into the loser’s, with the winning teams moving into the semi-finals. It’s a long way to go for some teams, with G2 Esports and Origen’s League of Legends teams forced to take the long road after losing early on.

Rouge made it out of the loser’s bracket and into the seeded playoffs, but they ended up losing 3-1 to Origen in their next game up. It was a short-lived run for Origen, though, as they ended up losing to G2 Esports, who will now face MAD Lions in the semi-final on Saturday. The winner of that one will go head to head with Fnatic, who blew away the MAD Lions 3-0 to get to the big game.

MAD Lions and G2 split their regular season meetings, so this one really is quite open. It’s going to be a close one, but I am on G2 to make the Final, which I also think they will win, since they won both regular season games against Fnatic.

LCK Spring Playoff 2020

The spring playoffs in the LCK are a little more straightforward than most. All told, the 5 League of Legends teams make it into the playoffs, but the number of games that they need to win to be crowned champions. The league winner automatically goes to the final, while the #2 seed is dropped into the semi-finals, and so on down the line.

It is the #4 and #5 seeds who have the toughest road to go, as they meet in Round 1, with the winner of that game going against progressively tougher teams all the way to the final. It will be kt Rolster and DAMWON Gaming who meet in the opening game of the LCK playoffs. Kt is in as the favorite at -161, with DAMWON listed at +110. These two split the regular season series, but I think that DAMWON winning their final game of the season may have them coming in with some momentum. I am going for the slight upset in this one. We will keep an eye on the rest of the playoffs as they progress.
