2024 Florida State Season

Few teams head into the 2024 NCAAF Season with as lofty expectations as the Florida State Seminoles.

The Seminoles dominated the 2023 season, going undefeated.

Yet, somehow, FSU got locked out of playing for the National Championship.

Head coach Mike Norvell is determined to lead Florida State to the College Football Playoff in 2024.

Will the Seminoles, the massive favorite to win the ACC, get it done?

FSU Season Rundown: What will the Seminoles win in 2024-2025?

Florida State Odds to Win the ACC +270

One of Florida State’s issues is that they play in a bad conference.

Sure, the Clemson Tigers, North Carolina Tar Heels, and Louisville Cardinals are decent teams, but the ACC isn’t nearly as deep as the Big Ten or SEC.

Ah, but here’s the catch. The Miami Hurricanes are on the rise.

So is Louisville after a monster season. Also, there’s a dark horse in the ACC this year in Southern Methodist.

SMU is a solid program loaded with skill players.

Florida State is a play against to win the ACC.

Florida State Odds to Make the College Football Playoff +160

How many teams from the ACC will the College Football Playoff Selection Committee choose?

The committee knows that the ACC isn’t on the Big Ten’s or SEC’s level.

There’s even a question as to whether the ACC is on the Big 12’s level.

Still, Florida State should at least make it to the ACC Championship.

They will fall to a team like Miami or SMU, but they should make it that far.

As long as the Seminoles make it to the conference title game, they should secure a CFP bid.

Florida State Win Total

  • Over 9.5 -105
  • Under 9.5 -115

Under has become the lukewarm betting choice.

The reason is because SMU, Miami, and Clemson are on the schedule.

There is also a road game versus Notre Dame on Nov. 9.

FSU should lose 3-of-4 versus the Clemson Tigers, the Mustangs, the Hurricanes, and the Irish. Going under is the play.

Go under 9.5.

Florida State to Win the National Championship +3000

For sure, Florida State is talented.

But, truth be told, Mike Norvell coached the Seminoles to an undefeated season.

Three players from the 2023 season are no longer in Tallahassee.

DE Jared Verse, WR Keon Coleman, and most importantly, quarterback Jordan Travis have all gone to the NFL.

Yes, Norvell replaced those players with talent like QB DJ Uiagalelei and WR Malik Benson, but Coleman, Travis, and Verse were special players.

FSU won’t win the National Championship.

Florida State Seminoles 2023 College Football Betting Season

Previous Betting News

Getting to the top of the heap in college football is difficult, but staying there has proven to be impossible for a long list of teams. Staying at the top means recruiting well every single year and hopefully bringing in new blood that can maintain the status quo. It also relies on great coaching, but there are so many things that can go wrong on both of those fronts that makes it very tough for teams to remain elite for long periods of time.

One team that looks to be slowly returning to their glory days is the Florida State Seminoles, who appear to be thriving under head coach Mike Norvell.

After a very solid season in 2022, which we will get to in a moment, the Seminoles are looking for more this season, but can they deliver the goods?

Let’s break down Florida State this year. Here’s the preview for your college football betting lines to win the NCAA National Championship.

The Seminoles in 2022

When Norvell took over the coaching reins in 2020, he was going to a team that was getting progressively worse. His first year was a nightmare, which is not uncommon for first year coaches looking to turn the ship around. 2021 showed signs of improvement, while last season proved to be a huge step forward, with the Seminoles going 10-3 and winning a thriller in the Cheez-It Bowl against the Oklahoma Sooners. That is a season that has to have instilled a high level of confidence throughout the entire team and coaching staff, but we all know that 2022 will be forgotten rather quickly once the new season begins in a couple of months. The Seminoles want an ACC Championship, and they want a playoff spot, but can they get there?

Betting Odds for the Seminoles in 2023

We are going to get a look at what this team is all about rather quickly, as they will open their season with a huge Sunday night matchup against the LSU Tigers, with a massive game against the Clemson Tigers not that far on the horizon. If the Seminoles can come out in Week 1 and take down a tough opponent, that might well set the tone for the rest of the season. A loss would not be a total nightmare, as it would have no impact on their conference standings, but it would be a blow for a team with playoff aspirations.

The Seminoles offense should be good again this season, with the focus very much on the running game, which should once again be solid. They also have a veteran QB in Jordan Travis, whose accuracy and deep ball ability will make this a team a threat through the air and on the ground. The defense should also be good, although they are going to need to get better at taking the ball away, especially in tight games where a turnover could make all the difference.

Right now, the bookies have Clemson and Florida State as the clear favorites to be the top two teams in the ACC, with the Seminoles in at odds of +158. If they can beat the Tigers in Week 4, those odds will shorten dramatically. I think the Seminoles are a good bet to get to the Conference Championship Game, but the playoffs still seem like a bridge too far at this point. The bookies currently have them at +1850 to win it all.

2017 College Football Betting Predictions for Florida State Seminoles

Previous Betting News

Outside of the University of Alabama, which is basically an NFL team every season, good luck finding a college football team more talented in the 2017 season than Coach Jimbo Fisher’s Florida State Seminoles. They are +600 on MyBookie odds to give Fisher his second national title for FSU. It’s too early for me to predict if that will happen, but here are some predictions I feel confident about.

2017 College Football Betting Predictions for Florida State Seminoles

Florida State Seminoles Will Reach Double-Digit Wins Again

MyBookie lists FSU’s win total at 9.5 for this season, with the over a -150 favorite. Now, remember that when sportsbooks list win totals for college football teams that it’s only for the 12-game regular season. No conference title games or bowls.

Fisher took over for the legendary Bobby Bowden at FSU for the 2010 season. The Seminoles have won at least 10 games every year but one – in 2011 they were 9-4. They will win at least 10 regular-season games this year, barring major injury.

Florida State has 16 starters back and probably only three realistic chances to lose: Week 1 vs. Alabama in Atlanta, at Clemson and at Florida. I don’t see Miami or Louisville going to Tallahassee and winning. Clemson is rebuilding a bit and FSU has killed Florida the past two years. Getting to 10 wins shouldn’t be problem.

Fisher Is Linked To Other Jobs

When you are ultra-successful at a school, there are always going to be rumors that you might be leaving at some point for more money or a bigger challenge. Last year when LSU fired Les Miles, reports were that the school went hard after Fisher, who has LSU ties. Maybe Fisher was just using LSU as leverage but he was able to get a nice fat extension from Florida State.

Fisher will earn $5.55 million per year starting this season, a $300,000 raise, which keeps him as the fifth-highest paid coach in the country. He will earn an incredible $57 million before bonuses through the 2026 season. Fisher also has a range of bonus incentives from $50,000 to $250,000, and will receive $1.6 million if he stays at the school through the contract.

Fisher reportedly turned down a $6.8 million offer from LSU to stay with the Seminoles. That’s all fine. But an NFL team can always pay more than a college. Many NCAA coaches want to test themselves at the highest level. Some NFL team will sniff around Fisher. So might schools such as Notre Dame and Texas A&M if they come open.

Noles Won’t Miss Dalvin Cook Much

FSU’s offensive star the past three years was running back Dalvin Cook, who holds the school’s all-time rushing mark and is among the conference’s leading rushers in history. He was a spectacular player. Cook declared early for the NFL draft and was a second-round pick of the Vikings.

The Noles will be just fine without him. Junior Jacques Patrick figures to open the season as the No. 1. He has been Cook’s backup for the past two years, and while his carries were limited, he’s shown the ability to be a feature back. At 6-foot- 2, 231-pounds, Patrick is tough to bring down once he gets going.

Behind him, there’s freshman Cam Akers, who is a burly 5-foot- 11, 213 pounds. Akers is the highest ranked offensive recruit FSU has ever signed, and he looked the part during the Garnet and Gold spring game after early enrolling. Akers ran for 87 yards on 10 carries and also caught two passes.

Deondre Francois Will Be Heisman Finalist

The key to FSU’s season is sophomore quarterback Deondre Francois. I don’t think he’ll win the Heisman this year – he’s +1100 on MyBookie – but will earn a trip to New York as a finalist.

Last year as a freshman, Francois threw for 3,350 yards, 20 touchdowns and helped FSU finish 10-3 after winning the Orange Bowl. He rushed for 198 yards (after sacks were taken out) and five touchdowns.

With the sack yards not removed from his total, Francois ran for more than 500 yards last season. The passing yardage total was fifth-best in school history. He finished behind pretty elite company in Chris Weinke (4,167), Jameis Winston (4,057 and 3,907) and EJ Manuel (3,397). Weinke and Winston were Heisman Trophy winners, and Manuel was a 2013 first-round pick of the Buffalo Bills. Francois won ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year and overall Rookie of the Year.

”This guy is a big-time player,” Fisher said. “He can lead; he is tough, accurate and can throw the ball. He will make a lot of money in this game one day. He is getting better and better.”
