Who deserves favoritism: Thomas, McIlroy, or Johnson?

Thomas most definitely has a shot because not only has he struck the ball well this season, he hasn’t missed a cut, and he finished tied for sixteenth at last year’s WGC-Mexico. Phil Mickelson beat Thomas in a playoff last year. That’s why he offers lower odds than McIlroy or Johnson.

However, both DJ and Rory also have great shots to lift the trophy on Sunday. Johnson shot a -12 at least year’s WGC-Mexico. McIlroy didn’t play in last year’s tournament, but he looked great in the Genesis Open.

Although +1000 doesn’t seem like a big difference, it actually is. Definitely consider backing either McIlroy or Johnson over Justin. Of the two, McIlroy might have slightly more upside after that performance in the Genesis.

Which less than +2000 choice deserves a look?

At +1800, Jon Rahm offers better than fair odds. He finished twenty-second at the WGC-HSBC Championship in October. Since then, he’s been great: first in the Hero World Challenge, eighth in the Sentry Tournament of Champions, sixth in the Desert Classic, fifth in the Farmers Insurance Open, tenth in the Waste Management Phoenix Open, and ninth in the Genesis Open.

Rahm also shot a -6 at last year’s WGC-Mexico. Any improvement could lead to a win this year.

What two underdogs going off greater than +2000 can win the 2019 WGC-Mexico Championship?

Xander Schauffele most definitely can win the WGC-Mexico at +2000 odds, but the +2000 or higher odds golfer to really consider is Sergio at +4500. He finished thirty-seventh in the Genesis Open, but played well in the 2018 WGC-Mexico Championship. Not only that, the odds difference between Sergio and the rest of the golfers on this list is just too great to ignore.

Sergio can get it done at massive +4500 odds. So, definitely consider Garcia if you’re looking for a dog to back.

What golfers not listed have a shot at taking the WGC-Mexico Championships?

Rafael Cabrera Bello offers +5000 odds on MyBookie. Cabrera Bello’s form hasn’t been excellent this season, but he did make the cut in all 5 tournaments played. He also shot a -15 at last year’s WGC-Mexico Championship.

That’s only a stroke off Phil Mickelson and Justin Thomas. Cabrera Bello deserves a long look at massive +5000 odds.
