Expert Golf Preview for 2018 Fort Worth Invitational

The US Open is the next big tournament on the PGA Tour, but the golf betting action never stops as we draw ever closer to the next major. This weekend, some of the best golfers on the tour head to Texas for the 2018 Fort Worth Invitational. This event will be held at the famed Colonial Country Club, which means that every player taking part here is going to be challenged by the course and by the heat, with the mercury sure to be rising during the 4-day tournament that runs from Thursday, May 24 to Sunday, May 27. There is a good group of players set to hit the course for this one, so let’s take a look at who is the favorite at the latest Golf Odds for this tournament.

Jordan Spieth

  • Golf Betting Odds to Win: +900
Spieth is in as the favorite, but as you can tell from his current odds, he is not really considered to be a convincing favorite. Spieth has not been in particularly good form this season, although a 3rd at The Masters seemed to serve as a sign that things might be about to turn. In his 3 tournaments since then, he missed the cut once and had a high finish of 21st. That is not the type of form that would suggest he can come out here this week and make a big mark. I am looking elsewhere for the winner here.

Jon Rahm

  • Golf Betting Odds to Win: +1400
Rahm established himself last year as a player that racks up winnings and top 10’s without making a habit of getting to the top of the leaderboard. There are signs that this year may be better, as he has already picked up one win at the CareerBuilder Challenge, and has a trio of top 10 finishes. He finished 4th at The Masters but has had a pair of disappointing performances following that, including a poor 63rd place finish at the Players Championship. He will need to get out of that slump to make some noise here.

Webb Simpson

  • Golf Betting Odds to Win: +1800
Momentum is with Webb Simpson after winning the Players Championship, so it’s no real surprise that he is up among the favorites for this event. He is very quietly putting together a great 2018 season, with no less than 5 top 10 finishes on top of his win, all of which has moved him up to #8 in the FedEx Cup Standings. Webb Simpson is one of the Golf Betting favorites to win the 2018 Fort Worth Invitational. I very often like to play the player coming into any tournament with the hot hand, which is exactly the label that Simpson is carrying at the moment. He is my pick to win this weekend.

Justin Rose

  • Golf Betting Odds to Win: +1800
If you want to talk about consistency, Justin Rose needs to be in the conversation. He has played in 10 PGA Tour events this season and has made the cut in every single one. He has a win under his belt already, as well as a total of 4 top 10 finishes. Rose’s game seems to be tailor-made for the Colonial Course, which is why he is a player that we all need to be keeping an eye on this weekend. If anyone is going to give Simpson a run for his money, I believe it will be Justin Rose, who I like to finish in the top 3.
