Top PGA Picks for the WGC Cadillac Championship
Originally known as the American Express Championship, the WGC – Cadillac Championship is set to take place at Trump National Doral in Doral Florida. This gorgeous Par 72 course is 7,506 yards and had a stroke index of 73.24 last season. It has been a regular on the PGA Tour since it first hosted the Doral Open in 1962 as online betting golf aficionados might recall. It was later known as the Ford Championship until 2006. The course has a nickname of the Blue Monster, for it’s water that’s in play on many holes.
Tiger Woods has one of the best weekend scores in course history, in 2013, when he shot 19 under par. It was then bought by Donald Trump in February 2012, and the change was drastic. Last year Dustin Johnson won the event at -9. Patrick Reed, Tigers Woods, Justin Rose and Nick Watney are all previous winners.
Who Are The Top PGA Picks for the WGC Cadillac Championship
Rory McIlroy: Rory Mcilroy is a guy that could contender for this title. He has the length, and appears to be in form at this course as well. He was third in 2012, but has finished inside the Top 10 four out of the last five seasons. Most Vegas odds have placed Rory as the favorite to win this event. He is listed at 9/1 at MyBookie.ag.
Jordan Spieth: Spieth is always a major player for a tournament title. Just two weeks ago though, Spieth missed the cut at the Riviera. He has plenty of strength to win this event, but it’s just his third appearance at Doral. He finished 17th and 34th. Spieth is second on the odds listed, behind Mr. McIlroy. He is listed at 10/1.
Bubba Watson: Bubba could be another contender for this event, due to his ability to really kill the golf ball. He’s finished inside the Top 3, 3 out of the last 4 seasons. Watson is 12/1 to win this event.
Dustin Johnson: DJ is another choice, much like Bubba, because of his ability to hit it a long way. Just like Bubba Watson, and much like Adam Scott, D.J. is listed at 12/1.
Adam Scott: He has finished inside the top six in three of his last six times. He is third on the list of odds to win the event. Scott is listed at 12/1, tied with Bubba Watson and Dustin Johnson.
Jason Day: Jason Day is a longshot, but it’s never idea to count him out. Day has not been able to put things together in 2016 just yet. Day, despite his struggles is still sixth on the favorite list. Jason Day is listed 13/1 to win the event.
Rickie Fowler: This guy is another longshot that has the potential to get out. Fowler is coming off a poor weekend at the Honda Classic. Fowler comes into the event listed at 15/1.
Other names to consider to win this event would be Henrik Stenson, J.B. Holmes, Justin Rose and Brooks Koepka. Longshot names such as Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia should never be completely counted out.
WGC Cadillac Championship Pick
Our pick to win the WGC Cadillac Championship is Bubba Watson. Bubba’s ability to drive the ball just as well as anyone on the course. Look for Bubba to stay the most consistent during the weekend, and win the event. If we were forced to bet one guy, and one guy only to win this event, it would be Bubba Watson at 12/1.
Good luck, and enjoy the weekend of golf!
