Top Horse Racing Picks for Fonner Park
Race 4 – 5:51 pm ET – 6 Furlongs Dirt – Claiming $7,500
At 5/2 on the morning line, Wandernintheforest won’t offer much in the way of odds. But it’s impossible to look past the 7-year-old mare sired by Teton Forest. Trainer Stetson Mitchell has Wandernintheforest in excellent form. His charge has 2 thirds, a second, and 2 wins in the last 5. Let’s put the speedster on top.
Friendly and Kind improved big-time second off the bench for trainer Isai Gonzalez. Jake Olesiak rides while Gonzalez is winning at 29% at the meet. Gonzalez wins 26% with beaten favorites. Don’t expect the 6/1 morning line odds to hold.
31% winning trainer Salvador Arcero saddles Put Sarah On. The 8-year-old Storm Victory mare has 2 wins from her last 3 races. She’s got a sweet 6-5-5 record from 27 races at the distance. Victory has a big shot.
- Win: Wandernintheforest
- Place: Friendly and Kind
- Show: Put Sarah On
Race 8 – 7:39 pm ET – 6 Furlongs Dirt – Allowance $7,000
Blueberry Princess is 8/1 on the morning line. It makes sense because this one goes from a $5,000 claimer to a $7,000 allowance. Trainer Juan Silva has won 27% of his races, though. Silva’s won those races at tracks like Golden Gate and Turf Paradise. This sure looks like a smart move for the money.
Kelli Martinez hopes Star Hunter can get the win in the mare’s third race at Fonner since Feb. 21. Often, horses run their best in their third race in the form cycle. Star Hunter finished second in both her races. She could get first, but you’ll have to swallow worse Horse Racing Odds than the 5/2 morning line to back her.
Another Juan Silva trainee, Jerry’s Way, figures to go right to the front. The horse has won 3 straight. But all those races were at 4 ½ and 5 furlongs. Jerry’s Way figures to set up Blueberry Princess for the win. Third makes the most sense.
- Win: Blueberry Princess
- Place: Star Hunter
- Show: Jerry’s Way
Race 9 – 8:06 pm ET – 6 Furlongs Dirt – Claiming $5,000
5/2 morning line chalk Wacca Wacca Wacca should get the lead and run off. The Fozzie Bear inspired runner has raced at Delaware, Parx, Charles Town, and Oaklawn. Delaware, Parx, and Oaklawn are much better racetracks than Fonner. Also, the Mark Lemburg trainee cuts the price tag in half. Look for a gate-to-wire score.
Legendary Song shouldn’t win on Monday. But the My Golden Song sired filly shortens up a half-a-length and has 2 in the money finishes at Fonner. The 5/1 morning line Horse Racing Odds are nice.
Think Dublinthemoney to round out the trifecta. Trainer Kelli Martinez wins at 32% at Fonner. This one has a win, a place, and 3 seconds from 7 races at the distance. She can plop up for third.
- Win: Wacca Wacca Wacca
- Place: Legendary Song
- Show: Dublinthemoney
