While quarterback Justin Herbert is undeniably talented, the former Oregon signal-caller also comes with a handful of question marks as he gets set for the upcoming NFL Draft. However, the questions marks are decidedly fewer when it comes to athletically gifted former Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons and former Oklahoma wideout CeeDee Lamb. If you’re an NFL fanatic and betting enthusiast that is looking forward to potentially cashing in on this year’s draft, then let’s find out right now where Herbert, Simmons and Lamb could be selected in the 2020 NFL draft Odds when it gets underway on Thursday, April 23.
Herbert, Simmons, Lamb NFL Draft Odds & Predictions
When Will Justin Herbert Be Drafted?
- Over 5.5 Pick -240
- Under 5.5 Pick +165
After Cincinnati takes Joe Burrow first overall, the Miami Dolphins have been widely expected to make Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa the second quarterback taken with the fifth overall pick with the quarterback-needy Chargers likely to take Herbert with the sixth overall pick. However, with reports saying that the Bolts could try to jump ahead of Miami, most likely by making a deal with Detroit to take Tua at No. 3, Herbert will go no lower than fifth to Miami. If no trade is made, which is what I’m predicting, then Miami will get their man at No. 5 and the Chargers will land Herbert at No. 6. I’m going with the over for Herbert, who’s leadership skills have been questioned because of his lack of fire and emotion on the field.
NFL Draft Odds: Over 5.5
When Will Isaiah Simmons Be Drafted?
- Over 6.5 Pick -110
- Under 6.5 Pick -120
Simmons is hostile, mobile and agile and where there more teams that needed help at linebacker at the top of this draft, he’d undoubtedly be a top five or even top 3 pick. However, that doesn’t look to be the case in the 2020 draft with a pair of quarterbacks and possibly three, going inside the first six picks. Superstar defensive lineman Chase Young looks like a lock to go second overall to Washington with most mock drafts having Detroit taking Ohio State cornerback Jeffrey Okudah with the third overall pick. The Giants need offensive line help to protect quarterback Daniel Jones at No. 4. I think it’s possible Simmons could go seventh overall to Carolina, but the Panthers could go for defensive end Derrick Brown. If that’s the case, I expect Arizona to go for offensive line help at No. 8, leaving Simmons on the board for what will be an eternally thankful Jacksonville Jaguars team at No. 9. Of course, there are potential trades that could happen to change my scenario, like Detroit or Jacksonville looking for a long-term answer at quarterback. However, as it stands right now, I’ve got Simmons going ninth overall and I don’t believe there’s a snowball’s chance in hell he falls outside the Top 10.
NFL Draft Odds: Over 6.5
When Will CeeDee Lamb Be Drafted?
- Over 12.5 Pick +110
- Under 12.5 Pick -140
The Las Vegas Raiders and San Francisco 49ers are widely expected to draft wide receivers with the 12th and 13th overall picks in the draft and CeeDee Lamb is in a two-player race with former Alabama star Jerry Jeudy to be the first wide receiver taken. While I personally like Lamb more than Jeudy, I believe Las Vegas will go for a defensive player at No. 12 before grabbing a receiver at No. 18. That leaves Jeudy for the 49ers at No. 13 and Lamb falling somewhere between 13 and 20, possibly to Dallas or Las Vegas and maybe even Philadelphia at No. 21, although I don’t see him falling that far. Still, Lamb doesn’t get drafted inside the first dozen picks.
