Race 7 – 3:47 ET – 1 M Turf – $51,000 Allowance
Golden Tapit goes against winners for the first time. Based on the maiden score, he’s the top choice. Trainer Brendan Walsh wins 19% with his last out maiden winners. Walsh is winning 27% at the meet, Golden Tapit shortens up from 1 1/8 miles to this mile, and it doesn’t get better than jockey Luis Saez. GT is the top pick.
Ralph Nicks saddles 12/1 on the morning line Cable Channel. That alone should give us confidence. Channel finished seventh in his last race, but that was off a layoff. Also, the English Channel sired colt changes pilots from Christian Torres to Emisail Jaramillo. Big positive in our minds.
Torres ends up on Souper Scat Daddy. He’d be the pick if he didn’t have to break from post-11. It’s tough to win that far out at a mile on the grass at Gulfstream. If you believe the Mark Casse trained horse can make a trip from the tough post, go for it. If not, use under in your exotics.

Race 10 – 5:20 pm ET – 6 F Dirt – $75,000 Allowance Optional Claiming
It’s surprising to see that Miss Susie offers Horse Racing Odds of 6/1 on the morning line. Trainer Jane Cibelli wins at 22%, Paco Lopez is one of the top jockeys riding at Gulfstream, and this one goes from 6 ½ furlongs to 6. Paco should get this one out with no problems. He can take the lead or stay a length off. Either way, Miss Susie should be in a prime position as they turn for home.
Katherine Ritvo wins 29% with her first out maiden winners. Jockey Javier Castellano rode Wanderlust in the 3-year-old filly’s maiden score at Tampa. Javier stays, which is a huge plus. Wanderlust made a middle move that led to the win. If she produces a similar move on Saturday, she can overtake Miss Susie.
Reagan’s Edge broke her maiden last September. That’s a knock. Another knock? She won her maiden race at Indiana Downs. But, she gets a nice outside draw, showed good early speed in her lone race, and broke the maiden by 9 lengths. She’s worth putting on exotic tickets for sure. Just don’t back her to win. Cherie Devaux is 0-for-33 with shippers.

Race 11 – 5:52 pm ET – 5 F Turf – $75,000 Texas Glitter Stakes
Aye Aye Sir could bounce after the stunning effort in his last. The Wesley Ward runner beat Texas Glitter favorite Cajun Casanova by 1 ¾ lengths. But Ward is a master at getting his charges ready for turf sprints. Ward is so good, he’s won races at the prestigious Ascot Meet in the UK. You know the one. Where the Queen of England provides her famous wave? Aye Aye Sir gets the win money.
The chalk, Cajun Casanova, figures to improve off his last. Casanova has a win and second from a couple of lifetime races on the turf. Trainer Mario Pino has had a great Gulfstream Park Meet, and this guy figures to be the speed of the speed. Aye Aye Sir must run Cajun Casanova down again or Casanova goes gate-to-wire.
Guildsman runs first time in the States. He finished third in a Grade 2 at Ascot Racecourse, fourth in a Grade 2 at Newmarket, and second in a Grade 3 at the Curragh in Ireland. He could dominate this field. Or, he could bomb. Don’t expect anything close to the 6/1 morning line Horse Racing Odds. Let’s put him third because there are question marks.
