Trifecta, Superfecta & Exacta for the 2018 Belmont Stakes

Written by on June 5, 2018

The 2018 Belmont Stakes is where dreams can come true for Justify, his trainers, and owners, as it’s where they can potentially win the Triple Crown. It is not something that we see happen too often, though, as only 12 horses have managed it in close to a century and a half. It really is asking a lot of a thoroughbred to run a trio of major stakes races in such a short period of time. A horse going for the Triple Crown may well be very tired by the time he gets to Belmont Park, and he will have the disadvantage of racing against horses who are a whole lot fresher. Let’s also not forget that at a mile and a half, this is a race that is a whole lot longer than what we are used to seeing in North American racing. With all of this in mind, Justify has a job on his hands on Saturday, and that will be factored into our exotic horse racing betting action for the weekend.

2018 Belmont Stakes Exacta

I’m not going to lie, I am not particularly confident that Justify will get the job done on Saturday, as he looked like a tired horse at the Preakness. I generally like to key a horse on top of my exotics wagers, but I have a hard time doing that here. With that in mind, I am considering going the exacta box route. Yes, it costs a little more than keying a single horse, but you also get your bases covered. Now, I do think Justify is going to be in the mix, so I will certainly have him as part of my 3-horse exacta box, which will cost $6 for a $1 stake. The Belmont has proven to be a race where the longshots find a way to win, and while I don’t think we will see the favorite win on Saturday, I also don’t believe we are looking at a huge longshot winner. I think Bravazo, who is 7-1 in the early betting, has the best shot at hitting the wire with his nose in front. He will be part of my exacta, box, as will Hofburg. It seems like a rather safe pick given that these are the three favorites, but they are the class horses in this race.

2018 Belmont Stakes Trifecta & Superfecta

Picking a winner in any given race is tough, but trying to peg the top 3 or 4 is a monumental task. The rewards tend to be very big, though, especially if you can get a horse at longer odds into the mix. That will drive the payout up in a big way. Since we already know the horses I am using in my exacta box, it’s now a matter of picking a fourth to add to our trifecta and superfecta tickets. The 2018 Belmont Stakes is set for this Saturday, June 9th. Here is where I go looking for a horse that will be at longer odds, but who might just find a way to get in the money. Tenfold, who ran 3rd at the Preakness is sure to get a look, but I think he will have a tougher time against the horses who skipped the last race. With that in mind, I am adding Vino Rosso my 4-horse trifecta and superfecta exacta box.
