G2 Esports Vs MAD Lions

  • When: Saturday, August 14th – 17:00 CEST

G2 Esports and MAD Lions will clash on Saturday in the opening round of the LEC 2021 Summer playoffs. G2 Esports enter the match as betting favorites, which might seem shocking considering MAD Lions are the reigning LEC champions – but there’s more to it than just one team’s previous success.

MAD Lions won the LEC 2021 Spring, but it seemed more like a fluke run rather than the beginning of something great. Although MAD Lions performed well on the international stage and made it to the semi-finals of the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational, they weren’t very convincing domestically.

MAD Lions ended the season in third with a 12-6 record, which tied them with Misfits Gaming and G2 Esports. However, MAD Lions had to settle for third due to their poor showings against G2 (0-2 in the head-to-head).

G2 Esports’ stronger head-to-head record on the season is a big reason why they are priced as strong favorites here. They beat MAD Lions in the season opener, and during the final week of the split, just over a week ago.

What’s more, G2 Esports have seemingly found their stride towards the end of the split, ended the LEC 2021 Summer on a five-game winning streak, and were 8-1 in their last nine outings.

G2 Esports have had a very rough split, struggling to play at a level many expected them to, but with the late resurgence, they should be considered as a serious threat to claim their ninth LEC title. MAD Lions are good, but they haven’t shown enough of late for us to believe that they can stop G2.

Prediction: G2 Esports to win

LoL Championship Series 2021 Championship Betting Preview

Evil Geniuses Vs 100 Thieves

  • When: Saturday, August 14th – 14:00 PDT

Evil Geniuses won their LCS 2021 Championship opener against Dignitas (3-1) with relative ease. EG should have won that match in three straight maps but choked in game two, allowing Dignitas to claim a consolation map.

Evil Geniuses were the better team that day; beating 100 Thieves will be a much harder task. 100 Thieves ended the LCS 2021 season in second (29-16), just one win behind TSM (30-15) and one win ahead of EG (28-17).

EG met with 100 Thieves five times across the season and won three bouts, which includes both of their last two meetings. Despite their H2H success, Evil Geniuses enter this match as betting underdogs, priced as high as +120, which does not make much sense.

Even though EG showed weakness against Dignitas, it’s not like 100 Thieves have been very impressive in the latter stages of the split. 100 Thieves ended the LCS 2021 Summer with a 2-4 record and won only against Golden Guardians and Counter Logic Gaming.

Evil Geniuses have a realistic chance to win and should be considered as a solid bet. You could also place a smaller wager on over 4.5 maps.

Even though not many playoff games end with all five maps played, these two teams look evenly matched and look poised to produce an exciting five-map thriller.

Prediction: Evil Geniuses to win

Prediction: Over 4.5 maps
