Why bet on the Colorado Rockies

The Colorado Rockies (34-22) have been a very pleasant surprise this season, but they also know that they need to remain consistently good if they are to keep pace in a tight division battle. The top of the NL West is occupied by the Rockies, but only a half game separates them from the Diamondbacks and the Dodgers, and it looks as though it may well be that tight all season long. The Rockies had a bit of a poor week, losing 3 of 4 to the Mariners, but they at least were able to avoid the sweep and regain top spot in the division with the win in the final game. The San Diego Padres (22-33) have not been very good this season, but they have been showing some signs of life this week, winning 4 games in a row. They will have taken some real pride in beating the defending World Series champions in a 3-game sweep, but will also be well aware that one series does not a season make. The Padres are 7-3 in their last 10 games, and have finally pulled themselves off the bottom of the NL West, but they are still too far adrift from the 3 teams at the top to really be considered a threat. They are still going to want to make some noise, though, and they can do that by taking down the teams at the top. Jhoulys Chacin (4-4, 5.77 ERA) will get the start.
