2017 MLB Picks For Wednesday, June 21

Written by on June 20, 2017

We have chosen 3 games to break down on the Wednesday MLB calendar, all of which feature teams that are in the hunt for a division title. The Boston Red Sox are very much a legitimate threat in the AL East, the Cleveland Indians are trying to stay at the top of the AL Central, which is where they feel they belong, and the Houston Astros are dominating in the West, although perhaps not playing their best ball at the moment. Let’s take a closer look at the 3 games we have chosen as well as their respective MLB picks.

A Closer Look At The 2017 MLB Picks For Wednesday, June 21

Boston Red Sox (39-31) at Kansas City Royals (34-35)

When: Wednesday, June 21 at 2:15 PM EST Where: Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City TV: MLBN Probable Pitchers: Drew Pomeranz Vs Ian Kennedy Analysis: The Boston Red Sox are just a half game back of the division leading Yankees in the East, and will be looking to take advantage of the fact that their rivals are on a horrific 6-game losing skid. Boston has gone 6-4 in their last 10 games, but lost the opening game of this series 4-2. The road has been a bit of a problem for the Red Sox this season, as they are just 18-20. Drew Pomeranz (6-4, 4.19 ERA) is expected to start. There are few teams as hot as the Kansas City Royals right now, and they have narrowed the gap at the top of the Central to just 3.5 games. They are a stellar 8-2 in their last 10 games, and are finally over the .500 mark in their own building. Ian Kennedy (1-6, 5.03 ERA) will be on the mound for the Royals. MLB Picks: Boston Red Sox 4 Kansas City Royals 5

Cleveland Indians (37-31) at Baltimore Orioles (34-35)

When: Wednesday, June 21 at 7:05 PM EST Where: Camden Yards, Baltimore TV: MLBN Probable Pitchers: Carlos Carrasco Vs Kevin Gausman Analysis: It took a while, but the Cleveland Indians have finally fought their way back to the top of the Central division. They made it there by winning 6-straight and 7 of their last 10 games, including a dominating 12-0 win in the opening game of this series. The wins need to keep coming, though, as they can almost certainly now feel the Royals breathing down their necks. Carlos Carrasco (7-3, 3.21 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Indians. The Baltimore Orioles are sinking like a stone after a good start to the season, and now find themselves anchored on the bottom of the AL East. They have only managed 3 wins in their last 10 games, and are struggling to put together any sort of consistent offensive showing. All that aside, they are still a very solid 23-12 at home. Kevin Gausman (3-6, 6.60 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Orioles. MLB Picks: Cleveland Indians 8 Baltimore Orioles 3 Houston Astros (47-24) at Oakland A’s (31-39)

Houston Astros (47-24) at Oakland A’s (31-39)

When: Wednesday, June 21 at 10:05 PM EST Where: Oakland Alameda Coliseum, Oakland TV: MLBN Probable Pitchers: Mike Fiers Vs Sean Manaea Analysis: The Houston Astros have the best record in all of baseball, and they have got to that point in a way that is a little different than usual. The Astros have been almost impossible to beat on the road this season, going an incredible 24-8. That has helped them build up a 12 game lead at the top of the division, and while there is still a lot of baseball to be played, it’s tough to see them gassing that lead. Mike Fiers (4-2, 4.00 ERA) will be on the mound for the Astros. While the Oakland A’s may be sitting in the cellar in the West, they are not a team that should be taken for granted at home. They are 22-14 in their own ball park this season, and closed out last week with a 4-game sweep of the New York Yankees. They may have lost the opening game of this series, but they are certainly not going to roll over and die at home. Sean Manaea (6-3, 4.01 ERA) is expected to start for the A’s. MLB Picks: Houston Astros 3 Oakland A’s 2
