It’s the start of a new week in the MLB, with the division races now beginning to really take shape. A lot of the preseason favorites have now broken out of their early-season slumps to once again be challenging for a division title, while the upstart dark horse teams of the early going are now starting to find things to be a little bit tougher.
Looking at the week ahead, there are some really good match-ups on tap, but with so many games to go through, it can be tough to narrow it down to just a few to put your money on. We are taking a look at the next 4 days and coming up with some MLB betting picks for each of them, so let’s get right to it.

Houston Astros at Detroit Tigers – Monday
The Houston Astros come into the new week on a hot streak after winning each of their last 5 games. That would make them a pretty solid favorite against the Detroit Tigers, a team playing .500 ball over the last 10 games, but the thing to remember here is that the Astros are just 10-11 on the road this season, so they are by no means a sure thing away from home.
That said, they are playing some fantastic ball at the moment, which I think will carry over into this series. This could be a close one, but I am on the Astros to get the win.
Milwaukee Brewers at Philadelphia Phillies – Tuesday
This has all the makings of a fabulous series, as it features a pair of teams who are very much looking like potential playoff teams this season. The Phillies have found their way to the top of the NL East, where they have a nice little 3-game cushion over the Braves.
The Brewers, meanwhile, are 2 games out of the lead in the Central, and while they closed out the weekend with back to back losses, they have still won 7 of their last 10. We have a fabulous pitching match-up in this one, so keep an eye on the UNDER. I like Milwaukee to eke out a close one.
Colorado Rockies at Boston Red Sox – Wednesday
The Boston Red Sox came into this season on a high after winning the World Series last year, but they were incredibly slow coming out of the gate. That thing we mentioned earlier about the good teams getting into a groove applies to the Red Sox, though, as they are suddenly hot and back within 3 games of the lead in the AL East.
The Colorado Rockies have had a similarly poor start, and while there are signs that they are getting the ship turned around, it’s a slower movement for them. A very good looking match-up here, but the edge to the Red Sox at home.
St. Louis Cardinals at Atlanta Braves – Thursday
After a great opening to the season, the St. Louis Cardinals have gone cold and are falling off the pace in the Central. It’s a tight race in there at the moment, so while the Cardinals are currently sitting down in 4th, they are just 3 ½ games back of the lead.
The Braves are back over the .500 mark after winning 3 in a row over the Arizona Diamondbacks to close out the weekend. They are playing the role of chaser, too, sitting 3 games back of the Phillies in the East. The Braves at home are always a tough proposition, so let’s take them to win this one.
