Boston Red Sox vs. Cleveland Indians

Analysis: Despite their 5-4 opening game loss against Cleveland Indians on Thursday night, the Boston Red Sox led the majors in team batting average (.282) while also ranking ninth in team ERA (4.00). Three players hit at least .315 for Boston during the regular season while three regulars topped the 30-home run plateau and two more hit at least 20 long balls. Nevertheless, I believe Boston is going to have a tough time getting past the young and hungry – and underrated – Cleveland Indians. The Tribe has been virtually unbeatable at home this season (53-28) and Cleveland has both, a solid pitching staff that ranked seventh in team ERA (3.86) and an excellent batting lineup that finished sixth in team batting average (.262). Veterans, Carlos Santana and Mike Napoli both bashed 344 home runs during the regular season while two other regular hit over .300. Staff ace Corey Kluber went 18-9 with a fine, 3.14 ERA while two other starters won an identical 11 games. Prior to Game 2, Boston has lost six of its last seven games and is just 1-4 in their last five road playoff games. Conversely, Cleveland has gone 4-0 in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 6-2 in their last eight games following a win. Boston has gone 2-8 in their last 10 road games against Cleveland while the Tribe has gone 6-1 in Corey Kluber’s last 7 starts during Game 2 of a series. Right now, I believe the BoSox are in trouble!

My Pick: Cleveland in Four Games
