We are now more than 20 games into the new MLB season and it’s fair to say that no team has really come out and take the bull by the horns. We have seen a few that are very obviously going to struggle this season, but we have yet to really pinpoint the teams that are going to pull away from the pack as the season progresses. For the baseball fans with no dog in the fight, this might be a good thing, as we are looking at several divisions looking tight from top to bottom.
There is nothing quite like a good pennant race, so we can only hope that the current level of parity continues. The one division that is perhaps the tightest of them all is the NL Central, where just 2 ½ games separate 1st from 4th. This one looks as though it is going to be a bit of a dogfight, so the series between the Brewers and Cardinals, which starts on Monday, is a big one, even this early in the season. The Cardinals are favored by 1 ½ on Monday, with the run total set at 8 ½.

Why bet on the Milwaukee Brewers?
The Brewers have spent some time atop the division in the early going, but a run of 5-5 in their last 10 games has seen them drop all the way down to 3rd, albeit just 1 game back of the division-leading Pittsburgh Pirates. That run has seen the Brewers fall to 13-10 on the season, but this is still a team that has a positive road record, albeit only just, going 5-4 in road games.St. Louis have been a team that the Brewers have dominated of late going 9-2 SU in their last 11 meetings. Furthermore, they have won 4 of the last 5 games that they have played at Busch Stadium and are a stellar 10-4 ATS in their last 14 visits there. Overall this season, the Brewers are 4-1 ATS as a road dog. They will send Adrian Houser (0-0, 3.29 ERA) to the mound for this one.

Why bet on the St. Louis Cardinals?
The Cardinals finished last week on a high, winning back to back games to take their record to 6-4 in the last 10. They are now sitting with a season mark of 12-9, which includes being a very good 7-3 in their own ballpark. As we mentioned earlier, though, the Brewers are a team that they have struggled against over the last couple of seasons, including this season.Of the 9 losses that the Cardinals have taken this season, 5 have come at the hands of the Milwaukee Brewers. In fact, the Brewers are the only team to have won a game at Busch Stadium this season. The Cardinals are 3-3 ATS as a home favorite. Jack Flaherty (1-1, 5.00 ERA) will be on the mound for St. Louis.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction for Brewers vs Cardinals
The Cardinals are on the better run of form of these two teams right now, but that tends to mean little when they face the Brewers. If the Cardinals are to win this division, they need to find a way to flip the script and start beating Milwaukee. I don’t think it happens here.Score: Milwaukee Brewers 4 – St. Louis Cardinals 3
