Chicago At Los Angeles MLB Winning Predictions

Written by on October 20, 2016

There are basically two different ways to build a team in major league baseball, and the Cubs and Dodgers have employed different tactics to get where they are today. The Cubs spent a few years in the basement, acquiring young talent and hoping that they would all hit at the same time, which they did. The Dodgers, on the other hand, took a whole boatload of money and purchased talent. That way of doing business hasn’t really yielded much success so far, but they are now just two games away from a World Series match-up with the Cleveland Indians. The NLCS is hanging in the balance very nicely, with the series knotted at two after the Cubs came up with a big win on Wednesday night. The series will now shift back to LA, with both teams knowing that the next win may well be the most crucial of the bunch. Given their record at home over the past couple of years, you would expect that the Dodgers might well be the betting odds favorite for this one.

Here’s A Closer Look At The Cubs At Dodgers MLB Winning Predictions

When: Thursday, October 20 at 8 PM EST
Where: Dodger Stadium, LA
Starting Pitchers: Jon Lester and Kenta Maeda
TV: FS1
MLB Odds: TBA

Why bet on the Chicago Cubs

When you win over 100 games in a season, you automatically become the favorite to win the World Series. Things certainly started off well enough, with the Cubs blowing past the Giants in 4 games in the NLDS, but they haven’t had things go their way too much versus the Dodgers. Chicago Cubs started out with an 8-4 win at home, but then dropped the next two games without scoring a single run. This team really hasn’t had to face much adversity this season, so it was always going to be interesting to see how they would respond in Game 4. They bounced back in a big way, with the offense coming to life in a 10-2 win. Jon Lester will start against Kenta Maeda, as he did in Game 1, and if he pitches as well as he did there, the Cubs win.

Why bet on the LA Dodgers

If the Dodgers do not get the win on Thursday night, it may very well prove to be their last home game of the postseason. A loss would see then go down 3-2 in the series, with two games in Chicago to follow. The good news for the Dodgers is that they have a winning record at home versus the Cubs this season, which is not something that very many MLB teams can lay claim to this year. If the Dodgers are going to win this one, they need Maeda to go deeper than the 4 innings he went in Game 1. The Cubs got to him early there, and the rout was on.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Cubs may be a young team, but they do have some invaluable experience in the line-up. Having Jon Lester on the mound for such a big game is huge, and it may well prove to be the difference in this one.
