Colorado Vs San Francisco MLB Free Picks

Written by on July 5, 2016

For the past few years, it has been the LA Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants who have been the only 2 teams really doing anything in the NL West. The Arizona Diamondbacks spent a ton of money on the offseason in an attempt to be part of the equation, but as the first half of the baseball season comes to a close, it is the usual suspects sitting at the top of the division. The Giants have built up a 5-game lead on the big-spending Dodgers, and then there is a real drop off after that. The Colorado Rockies are currently occupying 3rd place, but at 14.5 games back, they really don’t look like any kind of threat. Divisional games are not always easy, though, and the Giants will be approaching this 3-game series with the Rockies very carefully. San Francisco took the first of the three games, and are sure to be the betting odds favorites once again when they finish up the series on Wednesday night.

Why bet on the Colorado Rockies

If you can say one thing about the Rockies (37-45), it’s that they are a fun team to watch. This is a group that can score a ton of runs, but don’t have the pitching to back up all that offense. They have played the Giants pretty close this year, and are 5-6 in the games played so far this season. Their bats are pretty cold at the moment, though, as they have managed only 6 runs in the last 5 games, and are now on a 6-game losing skid. This is a team that can explode offensively at any given time, but you have to question whether or not they will be able to do that against a very capable Giants pitching staff. Jorge De La Rosa (5-5, 5.98 ERA) will be on the mound for the Rockies.

Why bet on the San Francisco Giants

The Giants (53-32) have put together a fantastic first half so far, and have done so by having a very nice balance between offense and defense. The Giants are one of only 4 teams in the NL to score over 400 runs at this point in the season, and they are getting enough out of their pitching staff to make those count on most nights. San Francisco are maintaining a 5-game lead at the top of the division, but with the Dodgers starting to get hot, they know that these types of series are the ones that the really need to win if they want to keep setting the pace. Johnny Cueto (12-1, 2.57 ERA) will start for the Giants.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

Johnny Cueto is putting together a Cy Young type performance so far this season, and it’s tough to hit your online sportsbook and bet against the Giants when he is on the mound. I am not about to do that in this game.
