The Chicago Cubs wrap up their season series against the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday afternoon in Colorado. Because it’s a getaway day game for the Cubbies following a night affair, they might rest a starter or two. They are slight favorites on the MLB Lines.

Javier Baez and Willson Contreras lead the NL All-Star voting at their respective positions, while Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant are each in 2nd place. This is a homecoming for newly signed outfielder Carlos Gonzalez, a long-time Rockie. González departed the Rockies ranked among the franchise leaders in many categories, including games played (2nd, 1,247), doubles (3rd, 277), home runs (4th, 227) and RBI (4th, 749). González has played the second-most games at Coors Field of any big-league player, trailing only Rockies legend Todd Helton and his 1,141 games in this ballpark.
Kyle Schwarber boasts a .349 on-base percentage, a .562 slugging percentage, and a .911 OPS in 23 games out of the leadoff spot this season. Among N.L. leadoff hitters, he ranks second in the league in OPS, second in slugging and seventh in on-base percentage (min. 100 plate appearances). Schwarber also ranks third with an average of 4.31 pitches per plate appearance and second with an average of one home run per 12.71 at-bats. The Cubs are averaging 5.23 runs per game this season, third in the N.L. behind the Rockies (5.31) and the Dodgers (5.29).
Cubs lefty Cole Hamels (5-2) threw eight scoreless innings Friday, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out 10 to earn the win over the Cardinals. The 35-year-old hasn’t allowed an earned run in his last 15 frames, but Hamels also had his best strikeout stuff working Friday afternoon. He reached a season-high 10 punchouts behind 22 swing-and-misses.
Hamels is 5-2 but this was still a big win because before Friday he had only posted one victory in his last eight outings. Hamels also has a 3.24 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 74 strikeouts in 77.2 innings. Hamels has a 3.79 ERA in six career games at Coors Field.

Why Bet on Colorado?
Nolan Arenado continues to rake. Arenado hit a two-run homer in the Rockies’ 6-5 victory over the Cubs on Monday. Arenado’s round-tripper came off Yu Darvish in the third inning and it tied things up at 4-4 and erased the four-run deficit they faced before the frame. The superstar third baseman has now driven in 57 runs to go along with 17 homers and a slash of .329/.379/.605. Daniel Murphy’s.370 batting average vs. the Cubs since 2015 (including postseason) is the fourth-highest by any NL player vs. any NL opponent that span.
Former Cub Wade Davis picked up a strikeout over a scoreless ninth inning to register a save on Monday. Davis was just activated off the injured list after spending three and a half weeks on the shelf, and he has his first save since May 14 as a result. It’s the eighth overall for the veteran closer, and the scoreless inning lowers his ERA to 2.16 to go along with his 20/10 K/BB ratio over 19 games.
As of Tuesday, Colorado is 54-48 vs. the Cubs all-time in Denver, including 50-40 at Coors Field. The Rockies have gone 21-11 vs. the Cubs at Coors Field since 2009, a winning percentage that is the Rockies’ best at home vs. any NL opponent over that span.
It’s Antonio Senzatela for Colorado. Senzatela (5-4) picked up the win Friday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over six innings in a 5-1 victory over the Mets. He failed to strike out a batter. It wasn’t a dominant performance, but the Mets couldn’t generate much hard contact off Senzatela aside from Michael Conforto’s sixth-inning solo shot.
Senzatela needed his defense to do the work for him on Friday because he didn’t strike anyone out. Even more impressive, Senzatela outdueled the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner, Jacob deGrom. It’s his third straight quality start and fifth of the season, and the right-hander will take a 4.95 ERA and 33:25 K:BB through 60 innings.
