The Pirates (5-3) came storming out of the gate with 4 straight wins, but have since cooled off to lose 3 of their last 4. All of those losses came on the road, which suggests that the Pirates might be a team that is going to do the majority of their good work at home. They certainly looked great in their opening series in their own ball park, taking out the St. Louis Cardinals in a 3-game sweep. It’s going to take a month or two for teams to settle and get into a groove, and I believe the Pirates will be among the best in the league when that happens. Gerrit Cole (0-1, 5.79 ERA) is scheduled to start for Pittsburgh.
