Giants vs Dodgers MLB Week 12 Betting Lines & Prediction

Written by on June 19, 2019

The 162-game MLB season is definitely more of a marathon than a sprint, which is why no lead can really be considered safe in the middle of June. There is still an awful lot of baseball to be played, with the second half of the season often being where the biggest changes take place. Teams who have the lead now may run into injury trouble, or they may hit the inevitable losing streak that sees their lead start to diminish.

You also have to look at the teams in the chasing pack at the moment. Many of these teams are going to go all in at the trade deadline, making moves that could spur them to a much better showing in the second half of the season. The LA Dodgers a have opened up a double-digit lead in the NL West and look like the team to beat in the NL, just as they have been over the last few seasons. They will once again host the Giants in the third of a 4-game series on Wednesday night. The Dodgers are favored by 1 ½ in this one, with the run total set at 7 ½.

Marlins vs Cardinals MLB Odds, Game Info & Pick

Why bet on the San Francisco Giants?

The San Francisco Giants are basically out of the playoff picture event at this stage of the season, as their overall record is currently sitting at 31-40, which has them sitting 16 ½ games off the pace in the National League West race. Despite being out of it, the Giants have proven to be a very tough opponent for the Dodgers this season, going 5-6 SU in the 11 previous meetings this season.

It was the Giants who came out and won the opening game in this series, but they were soundly beaten in the second game on Tuesday night, going down 9-0 in that one. San Francisco are now 16-19 SU on the road while going 14-14 ATS as a road dog. They will have Drew Pomeranz (2-6, 6.43 ERA) on the mound for this one.

Team Stats

  • Runs: 3.79
  • Hits: 7.48

  • Strike Outs: 8.73

Defense

Why bet on the LA Dodgers?

This has the potential to be a pretty big night for the LA Dodgers, as they have the opportunity to become the first team in the league to hit 50 wins this season if they can take down the Giants in this one. You certainly have to like their chances to get that win given what they have done this season, going 29-9 in their own ballpark.

Giants vs Dodgers should be an easy victory for LA.

As mentioned earlier, though, they have not had it all their way against the Giants, with many of their recent meetings being of the low-scoring variety. In fact, 15 of the last 20 meetings between these two in LA have gone UNDER. Over the last 11 games at home, the Dodgers have gone 9-2 SU. As a home favorite, the Dodgers are 21-17 ATS. They will have Rich Hill (4-1, 2.60 ERA) on the mound for this one.

Team Stats

Offense
  • Runs: 5.16
  • Hits: 8.81
  • Walks: 3.99
  • Strike Outs: 7.81

While the Dodgers have not been at their best versus the Giants this season, this is one that I think they win. I am taking the Dodgers to cover, while also going with the UNDER.
