How to Bet on LA Angels at Detroit Tuesday MLB Prediction & Pick

Written by on June 5, 2017

The Los Angeles Angels have struggled, to no surprise, without injured superstar Mike Trout and they begin a six-game road trip on Tuesday night with their only visit of the season to Detroit. The Angels are coming off a 4 game weekend series against the Minnesota Twins, ending the series at 1-3. Detroit had a great weekend facing the Chicago White Sox in a 3 game series, winning every game. The Tigers will be online MLB betting favorites.

Why Bet On LA Angels?

The Halos lost three of four over the weekend at home to Minnesota to fall two games below .500. On Sunday, a video review overturned Ben Revere’s stolen base and changed the call to a caught stealing for the final out, and the Twins won 3-2. Revere singled with one out in the ninth against Brandon Kintzler, and Cliff Pennington popped out. Eric Young Jr. took a called strike, Kintzler made a pair of pickoff throws to first and Revere took off for second as Young swung and missed. Revere slid headfirst ahead of catcher Jason Castro’s throw to shortstop Ehire Adrianza, and second base umpire Clint Fagan called him safe. But Revere slid past the base as Adrianza tagged his left foot. After Twins manager Paul Molitor challenged the call, Revere was called out about 1 minute, 45 seconds later. Albert Pujols got Sunday off. He joined the 600-HR club on Saturday. The other members of the 600-home run club are Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Ken Griffey Jr., Alex Rodriguez and Jim Thome. Pujols was the first player to reach 600 home runs since Thome in 2011. The six-year gap between Thome’s and Pujols’ reaching the mark is the longest between players reaching 600 home runs since the 31-year gap between Aaron (April 1971) and Bonds (August 2002). Among hitters with 600 home runs, only Babe Ruth (.342) had a higher career batting average than Pujols’ current .308 career mark. It’s Jesse Chavez (4-6, 4.68) on the mound. Chavez yielded one run over seven innings Wednesday in a no-decision versus the Braves. The lone run came on Matt Kemp’s homer in the second. Chavez had given up five runs in back-to- back starts, so he needed this. His ERA dropped from 5.09 to 4.68. Still, he’s now given up a homer in eight straight starts.

Why Bet On Detroit?

Detroit swept three games over the weekend at home vs. the White Sox, winning each by multiple runs. It was 7-4 on Sunday. Justin Upton hit a game-ending, three-run homer. Nicholas Castellanos was hit by a pitch from David Robertson leading off the Detroit ninth. Second baseman Yolmer Sanchez then misplayed a potential double-play ball and was only able to get Miguel Cabrera at first. J.D. Martinez, who is hitting .292 with a .792 slugging percentage, was intentionally walked to get to Upton. The slugger fell behind 0-2, took a cutter for ball one, and then hit a curveball over the wall in left for his 11th homer. Martinez hit his 10th home run of the season Sunday. He also hit his fourth double and drew a walk, finishing the day 2-for- 4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Martinez has been one of the most productive hitters in baseball since returning from his Lisfranc sprain in mid-May, boasting a 1.201 OPS through 22 games. Justin Verlander was removed from Sunday’s start for precautionary reasons due to a tight right groin. Lefty Daniel Norris (2-3, 4.47) is on the mound. Norris has lasted six innings only once in his last five starts, but the Tigers are 3-2 in those outings. He gave up three runs over five innings at Kansas City on Monday in a no-decision. Norris made his first career start against the Angels earlier this season on May 13 and received a no decision, allowing two runs on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts in 5.2 innings. Norris has started 13 games in his career at Comerica Park and is 2-5 with a 4.52 ERA (67.2IP/34ER) and 68 strikeouts. In four home starts this season, Norris is 1-2 with a 5.32 ERA (22.0IP/13ER) and 22 strikeouts.

LA Angels at Detroit MLB Betting Pick: Detroit Tigers

In five starts vs. AL West opponents this season, Norris has a 0-2 record with a 5.47 ERA (26.1IP/16ER) and 25 strikeouts, but I still like him here because of no Trout for L.A.
