Why Bet On The Los Angeles Dodgers’ MLB Lines?

Why should you consider backing the Dodgers in this matchup? Frankly, there are a bunch of good reasons starting with the fact that L.A. is on fire – and no, not literally like much of California was about a year ago. The Dodgers have gone 5-1 over their last six games, 7-2 over their last nine and an incendiary 17-6 over their last 23 games overall. Another good reason is that veteran right-hander Rich Hill will be fresh as a daisy after being activated for this matchup to make his first start since May 19 because of a blister. Last but not least, the Dodgers are ranked a stellar seventh in scoring (4.77 rpg) and equally impressive ninth in team ERA (3.61).

Why Bet On The Chicago Cubs’ MLB Lines?

Are the Cubs a safe bet on Tuesday night?

Why should you consider betting on the Cubs in this matchup? There are also a handful of great reason to back Chicago starting with the fact that the Cubs are also playing excellent baseball, having taken two of three from St. Louis over the weekend while winning 15 of their last 23 games overall. Another great reasons to back Chicago is the fact that veteran left-hander Mike Montgomery has been outstanding since taking over in the starting rotation for an injured Yu Darvish. Montgomery has allowed just three earned runs in 23.2 innings while compiling a phenomenal 1.14 ERA as a starter. Last but not least, the Cubs are ranked an outstanding fourth in scoring (4.96 ERA) and second in team ERA (3.19).

Expert Analysis and Prediction

While the Dodgers have gone 7-1 in their last eight games against Chicago, that was all compiled a year ago, so that has no bearing on this season if you ask me. For this matchup, I’m going to advise you to back Chicago to hold it down at home. Rich Hill might be fresh after nearly a month off, but he could also be rusty. More importantly, Chicago’s Mike Montgomery has been pitching like a Cy Young hurler since moving into the starting rotation and I just don’t see L.A. scoring a bunch of runs off of him in this one.

I know the Dodgers are 9-1 in their last 10 road games, but Chicago is 5-1 in their last six Game 2 matchups, a near perfect 4-1 in Mike Montgomery’s last five starts against teams from the NL West and a blistering 38-14 in their last 52 home games vs. a left-handed starter.

The Cubs win and cover the MLB lines in the process.
