Mets at Cubs NLCS Game 3 Online Betting Preview
The Cubs went 7-0 against the Mets in the regular season and it looked like they’d be in for another cruising performance over New York in this series, but that hasn’t been the case so far, as they find themselves trailing the Mets after two games. And making matters worse for the Cubs, they’ll be going against New York’s fireballer Jacob deGrom, who won both of his starts against the Dodgers in the NLDS, leading the Mets to a 3-1 win on October 9th, followed by a 3-2 win on October 15th. His most recent contribution, the Oct. 15th victory in Game 5, was particularly important, as he surrendered just two runs, while striking out seven and walking three, helping the Mets qualify for the current ALCS against the Cubs. Added to deGrom’s stellar 16-8 regular season record that came with a 2.47 ERA, it goes without saying that the Cubs will need to have a very solid performance if they are to stop the Mets’ ace. The same performance will be similarly be required against New York’s offense that has outscored Chicago 8-3 so far in the two games, and are led by trade deadline acquisition Yoenis Cespedes (.287, 110 RBIs, 105 Rs, 37 HRs, 7 SBs), who went 1 for 4 on Sunday with one RBI in Sunday’s 4-2 win over Chicago. For the Cubs, the ball will be given Kyle Hendricks, who went 8-7 with a 4.00 ERA in the regular season. Hendricks’ last outing came in Game 2 of the Divisional Playoffs, where he surrendered three runs while striking out seven over 4.2 innings of work to give the Cubs a 6-3 win over the Cardinals. Remarkably, Hendricks has not been the most solid of pitchers, but the Cubs can take solace in the fact that deGrom—even with his strong numbers this season—lost both of his starts against the Cubs in the regular season. The two defeats came courtesy of impressive showings from Chicago’s offense, which condemned deGrom and the Mets to a 4-3 loss on May 11th, followed by a 6-1 loss on July 2nd. To stop the streaking deGrom and the Mets today, the Cubs will need more of the same solid performance from their offensive unit. The onus here will thus be on hitter Kris Bryant, who leads the Cubs with a stat line of .271, 102 RBIs, 88 Rs, 27 HRs, 13 SBs) to rally his team to another good performance after he went 2 for 4 with one RBI on Sunday.Key Betting Trends
