MLB Odds Analysis: Seattle Vs Kansas City

Written by on July 8, 2016

While it’s not possible to wipe the slate clean at the end of the first half of the season, it is possible to recharge the batteries and start to think about any moves that might need to be made at the trade deadline. There are a lot of teams who are still very much in the playoff picture, but who obviously need a little bit of help to get over the top. Oddly enough, the world champion Kansas City Royals are in that group, and they are quickly finding out how difficult it is to repeat as champions. The Seattle Mariners started out the season really well, but have gone into a bit of a slump that has seen them fall off the pace in their division. Both of these teams will have one more shot to finish off the first half on a high note when they meet up for a weekend series in KC. You can keep up to date with the live odds for this one at MyBookie.ag.

Why bet on the Seattle Mariners

Towards the end of May, the Seattle Mariners (43-43) were 10 games over .500 and looking like a legitimate threat to be a major player in the AL West. Things have gone off the rails pretty badly since then, though, and they are now back at .500 and 9.5 games out of first place in the division. The mariners are currently on a 4-game skid, including losing the first game of this series to the Royals. On the bright side, the Mariners did take 2 of 3 form the Royals earlier in the season, although they are just 6-12 versus teams from the Central. Wade Miley (6-5, 5.36 ERA) will get the start for the Mariners on Saturday.

Why bet on the Kansas City Royals

The Royals (44-41) are having a hard time getting any sort of traction this season, and now find themselves in third place in the Central Division, 7 games out of first. The win against the Mariners in the opening game of this series actually ended up being a big win, as it helped the Royals snap out of a 4-game losing skid. A big part of the problem for the Royals this season is their inability to generate much in the way of offense. They are currently 25th in scoring, and are sporting a run differential of -24. This does not look like the same team as last season, and you have to believe that they might be active at the trade deadline. Edinson Volquez (7-8, 4.87 ERA) will get the start for the Royals.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

Neither of these two teams is really setting the world on fire at the moment, and this 4-game series screams split. I think it will be the Mariners who pick up the win on Saturday.
