Now that we are nearly into July, you can start to expect trade chatter to heat up around the major leagues ahead of the July 31 trade deadline. For example, the Phillies have made Maikel Franco available in trade discussions. Here are two free series picks with the latest MLB odds on the early-week MLB schedule.

MLB Odds for Top Series of the Week

New York Yankees at Chicago White Sox

When: Monday-Thursday (June 26th-June 29th) Where: Guaranteed Rate Field, Chicago TV: YES, WPIX (New York) / WGN, CSN-C (Chicago) Radio: WFAN 660 (New York) / WLS 890 (Chicago) Live Stream: MLB.tv MLB Odds: Yankees -185 / White Sox +155 The Yankees will be short-handed entering this series with outfielder Aaron Hicks, a potential All-Starlanding on the disabled list with a ribcage injury suffered Sunday. He’s expected to miss 3-4 weeks, meaning he likely wouldn’t be able to play in the All-Star Game even if he was selected. Hicks was 1-for-2 Sunday before leaving, lifting his average this season to .290 with a .398 on-base percentage. He also has 10 home runs and 37 RBIs. To make matters worse, manager Joe Girardi also told reporters that second baseman Starlin Castro was unavailable in Sunday’s 7-6 loss to the Rangers after getting a cortisone shot on Saturday to relieve pain in his wrist. But the Yanks expect Castro to be OK. New York might also might activate outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury from the disabled list on Monday. Ellsbury has been out since May 24 with a concussion but played his second minor league rehab game with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday. The original plan was for him to stay in the minors through Wednesday.

What Was the Results the Last Time These Two Teams Met?

The Yankees took two of three games against Chicago in mid-April at Yankee Stadium. The White Sox have won 11 of the last 16 meetings — including two of three last season — in Chicago. Matt Davidson leads the White Sox, ranks second among American League rookies and is tied for ninth overall in the AL with 17 home runs this season. Among AL players with at least 200 plate appearances, he ranks fourth with a 12.00 home run ratio. The White Sox have gone 13-8 vs. left-handed starters this season, compared to 19-33 in games started by right-handers. The Sox are hitting a major-league best .303 (197- 650) vs. lefties in 2017 and .248 (461-1,858) against right-handers. Avisaíl García (1st, .455) and José Abreu (T5th, .391) rank among the major-league leaders in average vs. left-handers. Take the Yankees to win three of four in the series.

The Cardinals are underdogs in the MLB odds in their series against the Diamondbacks.

St. Louis Cardinals at Arizona Diamondbacks

When: Tuesday-Thursday (June 27th-June 29th) Where: Chase Field, Phoenix TV: MLBN (out-of-market only) / FS-M (St. Louis) / FS-A (Arizona) Radio: KMOX 1120 (St. Louis) / KHOV 105.1 (Arizona) Live Stream: MLB.tv MLB Odds: Diamondbacks at TBA The Cardinals won’t be at full strength for a while as center fielder Dexter Fowler has landed on the disabled list with chronic foot pain. The switch-hitter will have an exam and additional tests Monday, all to give the Cardinals a better sense of severity and how to manage the injury. Fowler has been playing with a foot injury for much of this season, and the Cardinals trace his recent quadriceps cramp and previous leg injuries to the compromised foot. In the past month, Fowler has hit .304 with a .390 on-base percentage to go with seven home runs and 17 RBIs. In fact, they also lost lefty reliever Kevin Siegrist to the DL. The club promoted outfielder Randal Grichuk to take Fowler’s place. Grichuk’s return comes after he was demoted all the way to high-A ball in May to work on his approach at the plate. Grichuk showed how much he has improved by going 2-for- 5, including a home run into the third deck at Busch Stadium, in Sunday night’s 8-4 win.

How About the Diamondbacks?

Arizona has won 14 of its past entering Monday’s series finale vs. Philadelphia. All this without former All-Star outfielder A.J. Pollock (groin, quad), who resumed his rehab assignment with Triple-A Reno on Sunday. The Diamondbacks are looking to get Pollock 10 at-bats before bringing him up to the big leagues. Barring another setback, Pollock should be back in Arizona by mid-week and thus play in this series. They are also among the top home teams in the Majors, ranking first in runs (237), runs per game (6.41), OPS (.879), slugging pct. (.517) and extra-base hits (159; 89 2B, 11 3B, 59 HR); second in average (.292), on-base pct. (.362) and batting average on balls in play (.344). Paul Goldschmidt, since June 4, leads the Majors with a .422 average (Andrew McCutchen, .400), 1.269 OPS (Edwin Encarnacion, 1.258) and a .512 batting average on balls in play (Avisail Garcia, .472). Over his last 17 games, Goldy is hitting .422 (27-for- 64) with 6 doubles, 5 homers, 21 RBI, 10 walks. In the end, the Snakes win two of three in this series.
