No team sets out to be the worst in baseball in any given season, but the harsh reality is that with money the way it is in the game, teams are frequently forced into rebuilding as they dump salaries and try to bring in prospects that they hope will pan out. Every few years, a team might take a chance and spend a ton of money in an effort to challenge once again, but it’s a move that rarely seems to work out. The Chicago White Sox tried it a couple of years back and ended up flaming out in spectacular fashion.
They are not quite in the cellar with the worst teams in the league right now, but they are also not that far ahead of that group. One of the teams sitting below them right now are the Baltimore Orioles, who look to be in for a long, painful season if their start is anything to go by. These two will hook up in the final game of a 3-game series on Wednesday night. Given that yesterday’s match-up was PPD, there will be a double-header today. This preview is for the second of those games.

Why bet on the Baltimore Orioles?
The Baltimore Orioles have been making headlines for all the wrong reasons this season, most notably with slugger Chris Davis going through an epic hitless streak that has left him batting .176 on the season. While he may be getting most of the negative attention, there is certainly plenty of it to go around, as the Orioles have come out to a brutal 10-20 start to the year.
They are currently on a run of 4-straight losses, which includes a 5-3 defeat at the hands of the White Sox in the opening game of this series. On the plus side, the last time that the Orioles won a series was against Chicago, so perhaps there is some hope of turning this one around. They will look to do that with the impressive Andrew Cashner (4-1, 4.18 ERA) on the mound.

Why bet on the Chicago White Sox?
The Chicago White Sox have landed in a nice little run of form at the moment, coming into this one having won 3 in a row, although that streak takes them to just 5-5 in their last 10. They will not be getting too carried away, though, as they are still 2 games below .500 at 12-14 for the season, which leaves them 4 ½ games out of first in the AL Central.
They have been playing .500 ball at home, going 6-6 thus far, but they have been a very good bet against the spread, covering in 6 of their last 8 games. They also have a losing record versus teams from the AL East, going 4-6 in those games, including losing 2 of 3 to the Orioles when they last met. It will be Ivan Nova (0-3, 8.42 ERA) who will be on the mound for this one.

- Walks: 3.27

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction for Orioles vs White Sox
I have a hard time betting on the Orioles this season, but I think they have a pitching match-up here that falls in their favor. They have made a habit of winning when Andrew Cashner gets the ball, so let’s pencil them in for a win on Wednesday night.
Score: Baltimore Orioles 5 – Chicago White Sox 2
