MLB Picks and Winning Favorites for Friday, July 28

Colorado Rockies (58-45) at Washington Nationals (60-39)

When: Friday, July 28 at 7:05 PM EST Where: Nationals Stadium, Washington TV: MLBN Probable Pitchers: German Marquez Vs Tanner Roark Analysis: If the Rockies are going to make it into the postseason, it is most likely going to be through the Wild Card route. Colorado are 13.5 games back of the Dodgers, and are not helping their cause after losing 3 in a row. This will be a tough trip for the Rockies, but they do have the benefit of being a game over .500 on the road. They will hand the ball to German Marquez (8-4, 4.20 ERA) as he goes in search of his 4th straight win. The Nationals are cruising to an NL East crown, as the lead atop the division now sits as 12.5 games. They are showing no signs of letting up, as they are a solid 7-3 in their last 10 games. While the Nationals have a better road record, they are still a respectable 27-20 in their own ball park, so they are going to be tough to beat. Tanner Roark (8-6, 4.83 ERA) broke out of a 6-game streak where he went winless, and has now won his last 2 starts. MLB Picks: Colorado Rockies 4 Washington Nationals 5

Kansas City Royals (53-47) at Boston Red Sox (56-47)

When: Friday, July 28 at 7:10 PM EST Where: Fenway Park, Boston TV: MLBN Probable Pitchers: Jason Vargas Vs David Price Analysis: There is no team hotter in baseball than the Kansas City Royals, as they are currently on an 8-game winning streak. They have been playing some real balanced baseball, scoring 63 runs and giving up just 25 runs during this streak. They are now just a game and a half back of the Indians at the top of the Central Division, and are also a game up on the pack in the Wild Card race. Jason Vargas (12-4, 3.08 ERA) will be on the mound for the Royals. The Red Sox are currently clinging to a 1-game lead atop the AL East, but are starting to feel some real pressure from both the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays. Boston are just 4-6 in their last 10 games, and have only managed to cover in 2 of their last 6. The good news is that Fenway has been kind to the Red Sox this season, as they are 29-18 in their own ball park. David Price (5-3, 3.82 ERA) is scheduled to start for Boston. MLB Picks: Kansas City Royals 4 Boston Red Sox 2 Houston Astros (67-34) at Detroit Tigers (45-55) MLB Picks and Winning Favorites

Houston Astros (67-34) at Detroit Tigers (45-55)

When: Friday, July 28 at 7:10 PM EST Where: Comerica Park, Detroit TV: MLBN Probable Pitchers: Dallas Keuchel Vs Jordan Zimmermann Analysis: It really is only a matter of time before the Astros get that little asterisk next to their name that indicates they have clinched the division, as there is no way they are gassing a 17-game lead. The Astros have been brilliant all season long, and have been particularly effective on the road, where they are 37-13. You get an idea of how good they are when you hear that going 6-4 in their last 10 is considered a slump. Dallas Keuchel (9-0, 1.67 ERA) will start. The Detroit Tigers are coming into this series reeling after getting shelled and swept by the Royals in their last series. They were outscored 24-6 in that one, and could well be on the end of another hiding here. These two met earlier in the season, and it was the Astros who took 3 of 4 in that series. The Tigers are 8-4 O/U in their last 12 games. Jordan Zimmermann (6-8, 5.81 ERA) will be on the mound for the Tigers. MLB Picks:  Houston Astros 8 Detroit Tigers 1
